I almost got roped in the other day at a hillcats game. this guy with two little daughters was being so nice to me, and I thought, hey, cool, someone I can network with. But by the time he left, I knew what was going on. Now, looking back at his questions, I can see the whole strategy unfold. I cancelled out meeting. Such a sad existance.

I had no idea they were out there...and you and your family should not be subjected to such poor pick up lines...our security has been made aware!

Networking is the key to success in nearly every field outside of sales. I wish I was better at the skill. Mrs. Sly is master networker and often bails me out.

My parents were BIG in to "The Star" and it took a long Thanksgiving day to de program them!!! I won't go into great details but I went through their own thought process on how to make money and the numbers of people they would have had to "network" with was HUGE!!
As for getting roped in, the best defense I have found is not to say "No I am not iterested" that just gets them fired up. Just answer their questions in the exact opposite way they expect. I.E.
"Are you happy with your current job" "Yes"
"Would you be happier working for yourself" "No, I like the fact I am not responsible for decisions"
"Would you be interested in a job that would pay you more money and let you spend more time with your family?" "No, that is why I am working THIS job. I spend plenty of time with my family and I can retire early so that I can spend MORE time with my family and NOT work a job"

It gets pretty frustrating for them and then they leave!

"Are you happy with your current job?" I'm an assistant tennis coach, whats not to love?
"Would you be happier working for yourself?" If it means I have to work harder than I do now, no.
"Would you be interested in a job that would pay you more money and let you spend more time with your family?" Don't have one, not planning on starting one soon. My job is perfect for a singleton.

My favorite is when one guy was talking to my girlfriend it went like this:

"What are you in school for?"
"Early education"
"You want to be a teacher????"
"yes"
"Why in the world would anyone want to do that when you could make millions working for yourself!"
"I want to help kids" (in a shut up jerk kinda voice)

He laughed at her for wanting to become a teacher...LOL...I couldnt believe it...now i see that dude at least 4-5 times a week

Does anybody actually know of anyone that has been successful with these types of businesses? I’m talking about the average Joe and not the owner.

I remember a guy trying to get me sell "waterless" car wash crap. Same type of scheme. He told me I could retire in 5 years. I just couldn’t get the numbers straight in my head where I could earn enough money from selling liquid wax for 5 years and create an income stream for the next 50 years. I said “no thanks”.

I mean...sure there is money to be made...there have been people who've made money...a lot of money...but 99 out of 100 never will see it....pre paid legal is another where some do see money....but for the most part the majority dont put the time in it that's needed to be successful

i'm assuming by time he means approx 100 hours a week.

there is a guy at church that does quixtar....hes a good guy and seems good at selling...i'm trying to get him to quit and come to work for us. in talking with him i asked him how many hours he put in...he said 80 hours a week....i asked what he made....$28k the first year and then 36k, and then 42k...then 40k....then 28k. he won't even come interview....hes "convinced" that he's going to make it...he works 80 hours a week and had 3 kids....

Ha...I know right...you COULD make money...if you were to be lucky enough to have a thousand people under you and have them sign up a thousand people then you'll make a little money...I mean if you do some googling there are several that are legitimately wealthy from this...but we're talking about 1%

bottom line is it's a scheme and with every scheme someone or multiple people get rich but also with a scheme the majority get screwed...the gift and the curse if you will 8)

Actually, the guy works for the team, so that would be quite the odd situation.

Dont be offended HMO. He didnt REALLY mean it, he just said it for his post count to go up so he could try to slip by on his way to 20,000 and we might start paying attention to that and not see his real motives.
