I know we have a pretty good secondary last and did not give up a lot of deep balls but watching the better teams we played, they scorched our secondary( Elon, Toledo). Does anyone know if we have made improvements for this position and if so, what do y'all believe our weakness will be?

I think our secondary will be pretty good this year. We have everyone returning except for Dickerson and Best. I'm not sure if Saunders will be able to play, but that would be great if he is. We will have a couple of solid corners (Hicks and Calvary), and 2 experienced safeties (Rocco and Greiser). Not to mention our depth with Duffey, Manns, Torrence, Claiborne. I think we will be much improved in the secondary.

IMHO, our DL and OL are our biggest question marks. However, I think our OL will be just fine after they get a couple games under their belt. The addition of Robertson will help the DL, but I don't think it will be enough to turn it into a strength just yet.

I would say our biggest need is to find someone to replace our kickers for next season. What had been a trouble area in the past was a strength last season.

Who is this kicker we are talking about?

I thought we were getting torched in the flat. I'm not as familiar with coverage in a 3-4 as I am with others, but isn't that mainly the OLB's territory? IF so, that may be where a coverage upgrade was needed.

Matt Bevins, a kid coming in as a freshman who we gave a full ride to. We're not giving a kicker a full ride and him not playing.

And he is VERY good, was the 24th best in the nation according to the scouts and rivals stuff, and performed very well in kicking competitions. Kicks off well, kicks field goals well, and punts well.

Itll probably be him and Shipps battling come July. I know Drake is the senior but we dont need a kicker to be a liability again and if the spring game was any indication, he is a liability.

Battling for what? You think Shipps can be the punter?

No. I think Bevins could compete for kicker. Id think Shipps will get the job but if he is as good as advertised Im sure itll only push Ben even more.

I sure hope Bevins "could" compete for kicker or we wasted a scholly.

I think you are right. The game especially against Toledo, their running back kept bouncing to the outside. If we had someone who could have stopped them, it would have drained momentum and we would have one..... Also, if I remember correctly, was Vince Redd suspended for that game?? that would have made a huge difference.

Vince played against Toledo.

Against Elon, we got killed on screens to their 6'3 receiver. He'd break the first tackle and be gone.
Coaching changes

It appears your intel was on the mark.
