I'm just saying that no matter who you are you have to want to be at LU to stay at LU. I'm simply saying that if OJ Mayo wants to come to LU you don't just take him because of his ability, because you'll end up getting his ability and his character or lack thereof. It can be transfers or recruits, it doesn't matter. They have to want to be at the type of school we are. I understand we have to try and reach folks and give them a chance, and that is good. But it comes at a risk. I'm not saying don't take them. I'm actually glad we did. But don't be surprised when some of the risky ones fall off the wagon. That's all I'll say for now.
You are being an "LU Elitist"...
"They have to want to be at the type of school we are..."
Dude, THEY ALL WANT TO BE HERE, that's why they come! You are getting WAY too caught up in this "We are LU, and therefore our athletes don't get in trouble". People make mistakes, these guys just so happened to make a mistake, they didn't "fall off the wagon"! They aren't even students anymore!
And, if "it can be transfers or recruits, it doesn't matter", THEN WHAT'S YOUR POINT? You said it struck you that these guys are transfers, and now it doesn't matter. Our coaches take into consideration character, and talent. Not everyone is going to be perfect, but everyone is going to be accepted here because the coaches feel they will be able to fit under the rules here, and the athletes sign off on the NLI because they want to be here.
What if Noah Greenbaum stole 150 bucks from some old lady on the street? He was never a "risky transfer", would you still be calling out our coaches for taking in someone "risky"? Does someone become "risky" for you because they do something wrong? Vince was risky, and finished up here just fine and found himself in the NFL. Our coaches know what they are doing when they bring these guys on board.
