I will admit I do act like a 9 year old and if you don't believe me ask Mrs Purple. I do agree that there is a tendency for Christians to have a "How can I be offended today mentality" Saying that however, it was nice to see CHER say that while she didnt' like it she would still be lurking about. Good for her. She is not throwing out the baby with the bath water. She seems to be saying that in HER standards SOME of the posts are a bit juevenille and maybe a tad off color. She is not , iMHO, whining. I can accept her observation, I don't have to agree with it, but at least she said her peace, didnt' pass judgement on others, and said she would still be a part of the community. Kudos to her.

If you protect your son from everything his whole life and he goes to LU....he will fit in with about 30% of the students who party and rebel as soon as they get on campus. I think all of the grads of the last 10 years would agree.....how many sheltered kids have you seen who go crazy just because they can.....

I will agree with Cheer and Knuckle, as it seems we have more people on here pushing the envelope. Also if Knuckle wants to keep his 13 yrs old kid shelthered as some would say on here, good, let the kid try to have a childhood. When he gets older he can experience the real world as some on here so and see how life can be at time.
And yes I think our website should be something different then all the other website.

I know this seems to be falling on generational lines but I have to agree that the innuendo bothers me many times. And it does seem as though it has been getting progressively more overt in recent months. I would prefer the board police itself and that's why I haven't come down hard. But in light of this thread, I'd hope that everyone exercises some judgement when posting.

I can remember the dorm attitudes, even back in the ancient days when I was there. But we knew when to turn it off. And an internet forum in mixed company is a pretty good place to at least have a little class.

That said, I didn't even read the threads in question, so I can't judge who did what and whether it was OK to do. I'm speaking in generalities here -- we all need to remember who's reading when we post something.

more like 50% talk as if they are huge rebels....in all reality I would say its more like 15-20% that just "go crazy"....going out and getting a drink is far from going crazy...

I always knew that FF was a boys club and I just jumped in when I was interested or knew anything but really would enjoy reading your debates and such and then talking to my hubby about some stuff that was interesting to him.

Now there is language and talk about women that I don't love and I am just sad all around about it. Not gonna stop lurking but just wanted to state I used to see a difference of character on here and I know it is much bigger than it once was so you can't have all the good ones on here.

I agree with Cheerbren. She said it better than I could. This isn't directed at any one person or thread. But I come here less and less as some of the innuendos and language about women just makes me uncomfortable and, yes, sad. I won't go away either but I wish it wasn't that way.

I think it was the "What is more Boring than NASCAR" thread that got me to thinking about the change. I probably was doing laundry while I was lurking around and yes I am a woman or the whole 'a man being pregnant' thing would have been old news.

i see what both sides are saying as as the board gets bigger the more different personalities come on. indeed a lot of the stuff on the board recently is borderline but anything that i have seen that is like that i either close the thread or delete the post. i know it is all in fun, but this is an LU board and we all need to represent better, so we all need to think more before we post because i have not locked one in awhile
