Does anyone have any advice as to which company to use? I travel a fair amount of time, and my wife would feel alot safer with one. I've looked into ADT and Brinks. There is another company that I've looked into that just serves VA, MD, & DC but I can't think of their name right now. I've looked on other websites for reviews and they're all 50/50. Some people have had good experiences and others not so good. It seems like prices are basically the same across the board.

There are other means of protecting your home, but when the wife comes to you and tells you (not asks) that she wants a home security system that's what you're getting.

My wife hates dogs, it's all I could do to get a yellow lab puppy, and needless to say that's not much of a guard dog.
