I was afraid he was going to mow down the team on the sidelines on the Baptist side, but he chose to actually drive it on the field instead.

One thing that concerns me is the 2nd string center. There were several times when he oversnapped either Landis or Brown when in shotgun. I'm not sure if this is something that just needs to be practiced more or if he just hasn't had any game experience snapping in the shotgun. I'm sure it's something that can be fixed given time.

He didn't mess it up. I went down on the field after the game and there wasn't any damage to it. He just got the blades going one way and threw up some rubber pellets.

This is true but it is a safety issue. Having a mustang driving by a football team ON THE FIELD when they are not expecting it isnt good. I know the guy was happy to get a free car but it seems like there should have been someone there giving him some direction, but maybe my opinion is tainted.

Here is Scribe's recap of the festivities on the field Saturday ...
Flames’ offense lacks defense

Liberty wide receiver Chris Summers, left, goes up for the catch while being covered by Kajuan Lee during Saturday’s blue/white spring football game at Williams Stadium.

Heading into spring practice, Liberty’s offense had two potential weaknesses. The line graduated three starters, all of whom have shots of landing on NFL rosters in the fall. And the Flames lost their two starting wide receivers, leaving some to wonder if the offense could be as dynamic as the one that set numerous school records a year ago.

Instead of worrying about those perceived shortcomings, the Flames coaching staff was left to ponder another point after Saturday afternoon’s spring game at Williams Stadium. Is the offense this good, or is the defense this bad? The offense, led by a dominating showing from the first team, outscored the defense 62-19.

And he added some other nuggets in his Notebook ...
Each spring, Liberty polls its players to decide its team captains for the upcoming season.

Danny Rocco, the team’s head coach and a Pennsylvania guy through and through, swears he has no bearing on the results of the voting. Still, when four of the six team captains for the 2008 season hail from the Keystone State, one has to wonder if the coach had some sort of hand in the voting.

“It’s a little bit of bragging rights for the locker room right now,” said linebacker Nick Hursky, one of the four Keystone captains. “Everyone’s like F-L-A or Virginia or Ohio. But four captains from Pa., that’s pretty cool.”

Quarterback Brock Smith, a Hershey native, is another offensive captain. The other two defensive captains are nose guard Colin Dugan (Springdale, Pa.) and safety Ryan Greiser (Quakertown, Pa.). Hursky is from Carnegie.

“I don’t know what that has to say about anything, but it’s cool,” Smith said.

Tailback Rashad Jennings and center Mike Godsil were named the other two offensive captains.

This catch was so awesome and I love the way the photograher captured it........another neat thing about this picture is, look who's standing on the sidelines looking on....it's Wynton Jackson (WR - #1 last four years).

Lefty, you forgot the ROSS kid who won the Mustang GT at halftime and then drove an entire lap around the Fieldturf with Jerry, Jr. riding shotgun.
Just a mustang...not a GT.

Well FR, a lot of people got to see what some of us got to see over the last couple of weeks and that is an offense that potentially could put up a WHOLE lot of points. I really do not think our defense is that bad as Lang mentioned in his opening paragraph. I mean a lot of these guys were on the team last year and they only allowed 30+ points 4 times (three of them losses to W&M, Elon, and Toledo) and really a couple plays go differently and we arent an 8-3 team. I think this really will do well for us for this year.

Looks like SCAR is down to his playing weight. Now if he could just bring back his playing hair...

SCAR has been hitting the gym according to his reports.....in regards to the game, brock looked great and the O-line gave him plenty of time and opened up nice holes for the backs. defensively we struggled, but hopefully by fall we will be much better.

The offense pretty much dominated the entire spring. There were some good moments for the defense but they were just that...moments. I dont want to see us have to get in a shootout with some of the bigger teams on the schedule (like YSU)

Do you know anything about Youngstown other than they're a name? Seriously, I'm asking. Because if you did, you'd know their offense wasn't that great right now. You should've used Elon for an example.

Do they still have that QB we faced from a while back? He looked decent then...wait so did everyone else who played here.

I take that back I thought he was a FR when we played him but I was wrong. So they just lost a 4 year starter at QB- good news for us
Coaching changes

It appears your intel was on the mark.
