Scar, I know you are usually too modest to do this, but can you please DROP a few names? Throw us a bone, please! 8)

No offense Flameshaw but if you are a member of that 1st football team in LU History then you are NOT from my time :P The guys that are coming are just good friends of mine. You guys probably won't remember them. Carroll Lee Ward and Phil DeBerry. They both played D back. Ward was the tallest free saftey in the country at 6-5.

Hmm...hey SCAR, is Phil DeBerry related to Aaron DeBerry? I remember Aaron from my early years at LU and seeing that name made me wonder a bit.

You know I have never asked him that over all these years. We will find out on Saturday I guess.

For those of us predisposed, will anybody be providing video coverage via their station's website (ahem) or their fan site (ahem again)?

No video streaming (yet), Medic & Sly, but here's Lang's pre-game take on LU's spring game from the local fishwrap:
This spring has been all about fine tuning for Smith, who will lead the Flames in today’s spring game at Williams Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. Coming off the finest season a Liberty quarterback has produced in 13 years, Smith has no worries about job security. He completed 61.2 percent of his passes, threw for 2,226 yards and finished with 19 touchdowns and seven interceptions.

Not since Antwan Chiles in 1994 (54.8 completion percentage, 2,823 yards, 19 TDs, eight INTs) has a Flames quarterback been so effective...“He’s having fun with it,” Liberty tailback Rashad Jennings said. “He’s going through his progressions so quick, he’s hard to stop. You can be in the right spots on defense, but he’s still hard to stop. He’s making good decisions.”

...Rocco has enjoyed watching his senior quarterback take complete control of the offense. “Brock Smith has been outstanding, pretty much from beginning to end,” Rocco said. “He’s got a great understanding of the offense. He’s got great confidence. He’s always had a good arm. Now he’s just seeing things better. The game has slowed down for him.”

The :oldhag have to love the "not since Antwan Chiles in 1994" reference. Let the comparisons begin. :P

Winners today:

Brock Smith
Danny Broggin
Brandon Saunders
Aaron Hewlitt
Spencer Landis
Ben Shipps
Rashad Jennings
T-Bone Lawrence
Dominic Bolden
O-Line

I liked the defense's tackling. Everything was fairly sound. Offense was great, Defense was slightly above average. Donnie Manns and Ian Childress seemed to be making a lot of Tackles. Didn't hear much from Connolly, or Bannon. All in all, however, you left the game feeling good about this upcoming season.

I think our receivers push off a lot on those fade routes. As long as it's not enough to get called though, it's cool.

Our offense was amazing. It's as if they haven't skipped a beat from the end of last season. Brock was slinging the ball all over the field, he had alot of time and the running game was very solid.

With our defense matching up against maybe the best offense they will see the whole season in practice every week hopefully they will make great strides.

I really think we could rewrite a lot of offensive records this year. I havent seen the offense look as good as they did today in all my years at Liberty (and that includes last year). Also, Brock absolutely threw a perfect ball to Dominic for that touchdown near the end of the half. He has developed amazing touch with both the deep ball and with the screen pass (the screen was somewhat of a liability a year or two ago) as well. Spencer threw a great ball for the TD to Lambros too

Lefty, you forgot the ROSS kid who won the Mustang GT at halftime and then drove an entire lap around the Fieldturf with Jerry, Jr. riding shotgun.

Speaking of that guy, he definatly did some damage to the turf when he got to the baptist side. I knew he was gonna gun it at one point.
