I love Kansas. 2 for 2 on bets tonight, and if they win saturday night I get second place in the 390 person office pool with an entry fee of 10 bucks!

Well, that's not enough to buy a football team, but you could give your Quiz Bowl coach a raise or a bonus. Study

I guess I gave the Carolina boys too much credit.

This once again proves why Roy Williams is a horrible "big game" coach. Brings in all this talent every year, and the only year he has won the title he did it with talent brought in by Matt Doherty who wasn't good enough for UNC!

He was trained well by Dean. :D

ESPN and Dick Vitale must be in crisis mode now. No ACC team, do UNC, and no Dook in the Championship game. Who's backside are they going to be kissing now?!

Not exactly. Carolina plays in quite a few "big games" every season. We don't always win them all, but we have won a fair share. Bill Self & Kansas just played an outstanding game. In five years at Carolina, Coach Williams has been to the second round twice (not great), one Elite Eight, & two Final Fours with one National Championship.

Dumbest argument by Carolina/Coach Williams haters. People seem to forget Roy's FIRST season with Doherty's recruits...they went 19-11 ( 8-8 ACC ). The previous season under Doherty, they went 19-16 ( 6-10 ACC ).

Enter Coach Williams recruit, Marvin Williams in 2004-05. Honorable All-ACC mention. ACC Rookie of the Year. 2nd pick in the 2005 draft. Scored the go ahead basket in the National Championship game. Yeah, he played a pretty big part on that team. Plus, the team had adjusted to the style of play that Coach Williams wanted. They didn't do that in his first season, as was well documented.

That argument would also say that Jim Valvano won a title at NCSU in '83 with Coach Sloan's players. Doesn't work that way. That's pretty much "grasping at straws" & looking for something to hate.

I'm just impressed that some of you East Coasters even have heard of Rock, Chalk ... were they once a member of the ACC or something?

Duke wasn't the consensus overall number one seed--and weren't expected to go much farther than what they did. Carolina was just as overblown as Duke was.

I actually have always liked Kansas as a non-ACC team ( though not particularly this weekend ). I think their history & Carolina's history are kind of a cause & effect.

Coach Smith played at KU for Coach Allen, who learned the game from some guy named Naismith. Throw in Larry Brown & Roy Williams... you can see how they relate.

Duke wasn't expected to make the Sweet 16 as a 2 seed? Either you're just covering for your favorite team or you're an absolute idiot.

Okay, perhaps you would like to look at the times that dook was the number one seed....what they were expected to do & what they did? You know that goes both ways.

Most true Carolina fans quietly watch Kansas every year for the reasons he stated. Coach Smith went there, then of course coached for Carolina. Roy Williams started at UNC as an assistant, got his head coaching chance at Kansas, and is back at Carolina. There's a connection there.

I love how the Duke fans, mainly Bryson and JDub on here, complain that the Carolina fans always try to start a crap throwing competition between Duke and Carolina, then the second Carolina loses they're both on here throwing out the same crap when there wasn't a single Carolina fan saying anything when Duke lost. Hmm...

Please don't confuse us East Coasters of being acc'ers ever again. Thank you.

I just think it's annoying from both sides, especially when one side complains about the other doing it and then does it themselves. It happens on every single message board that Duke and Carolina people are on.
