flamesbball84 wrote:This once again proves why Roy Williams is a horrible "big game" coach. Not exactly. Carolina plays in quite a few "big games" every season. We don't always win them all, but we have won a fair share. Bill Self & Kansas just played an outstanding game. In five years at Carolina, Coach Williams has been to the second round twice (not great), one Elite Eight, & two Final Fours with one National Championship.

People seem to forget Roy's FIRST season with Doherty's recruits...they went 19-11 ( 8-8 ACC ). The previous season under Doherty, they went 19-16 ( 6-10 ACC ).

I think their history & Carolina's history are kind of a cause & effect.

You know that goes both ways.

Roy Williams started at UNC as an assistant, got his head coaching chance at Kansas, and is back at Carolina. There's a connection there.Sly Fox wrote:I'm just impressed that some of you East Coasters even have heard of Rock, Chalk ... were they once a member of the ACC or something?I actually have always like Kansas as a non-ACC team ( though not particularly this weekend ). Coach Smith played at KU for Coach Allen, who learned the game from some guy named Naismith. Throw in Larry Brown & Roy Williams... you can see how they relate.
