DC's understudy announced on WSET tonight that LU's Peter Aluma was elected/chosen for the Big South Hall of Fame. I didn't even know the BSC had a Hall of Fame. Is it in located in KK's office suite in Charlotte?
He played professionally with the NBA’s Sacramento Kings (1999) and Phoenix Suns (2000), as well as for the Harlem Globetrotters (2001), and overseas for Argentina’s Toros De Aragua (1998) and Belarus’ Gomel (1999) programs.

It's actually the BSC Hallway of Fame. It's located at Big South Headquarters in Charlotte between KK's office and the break room.

DC's boy said that Aluma was only the second Flame to be elected to the BSC Hall of Fame. Does anyone know who the first Flame was to make the hall?

That would be decathalete Ryan Werner.

Great to see Peter honored by the conference which never elected him POY, even though he was the dominant player in the league for over 3 years. he did win 2 tournament MVPs.

Well when making a pick like this you have to look solely at numbers unless the person cured cancer or became the best darned color commentator around :D. Really though, Aluma is really deserving. No I am not surprised he was the 1st hoops guy. Other than Hildo, who would you pick? He had 3 years where he could have or should have won MVP of the league and he won 2 MVP's of the tournament. Hildo was a great leader and had good numbers (comparable to Larry Jackson by the way) But I think Aluma was a good choice. Given that we are only talking about Liberty's big south participation being from 1991 to the present, it had to be Aluma or Hildo for hoops. Josh McDougal, Larry Blair and Katie Feenstra will be in soon enough. Congrats to Aluma!

Scar (and others), since I'm an :oldhag I want to make sure that I understand your comments above: would Julius have not been eligible since he didn't play in the Big South Conference? (my memory of when he played vs. when we joined the BSC is really bad right now).

With all due respect to Smoothy, I'd really like to see a career comparison of points, rebounds, & blocks between Julius & Peter, before I decide who was our better center. But my faulty memory is leaning more toward Julius before I see the actual stats.

Julius only played 3 years and we were only in the BSC for 2 of them, as opposed to Peter's 4 years in the BSC.

As far as numbers are concerned, Peter was head and shoulders the better shot blocker, and still holds the BSC record. IMHO he was also a better pure post player.

Peter's focus on shot blocking detracted from his defensive rebounding. Julius was a better rebounder IMHO. He was also a more explosive athlete and ran the floor better.

I took Julius for my unofficial flamefans all-time team, but would have to go with Peter as more deserving for of a spot in the Big South HOF.

Hildo is the main person I was thinking of. But smaller conferences like BSC dwell on a professional career even though it may have not been much of one in the NBA Peter can still say he was on a roster.

Actually that was Julius that was on a roster here in San Antonio. What a beautiful city btw. I am here at the final 4. I have seen a ton of coaches. Just about everyone who has ever coached at Liberty except Hankinson  Me and Bootstraps Turner and others are having a blast! Old Flame I have to agree with all of your assesments on the two 00's.

Have you run into Julius down there. Last I heard Juice was living here in H-town and he could've very easily made the roadie down I-10.

No but I have been with a ton of Liberty connected folks including Dunton, Martin, Davis, Leary, Meyer, John Jones of Nyack, Glyn Turner of Houghton, Jason Allison, Matt Olinger....I have had conversations with Barclay Radebaugh, Eddie Biedenbaugh and a couple of WU assistants. Of course I have seen tons of famous coaches, pretty much everywhere you turn. Not too many pics of people yet but tons of this beautiful city. Juice is overseas. Leary talked with him yesterday. He just left too. I was hoping to see him.

I saw most of the games Juice and Peter played and would definitely pick Peter over Juice if I was starting a team. Unfortunately Peter was so much better than the rest of the league, he seemed to coast a bit and could have been a better player IMO. By his senior year, he didn't even look like he listened to anyone on the coaching staff and was just a celebrity on campus. Great guy, he spent many nights in my home just lacked some motivation. I am glad I didn't have to feed that rascal, every day, I would have had to get a second job, he could put it away. I would have to cook him 2 steaks and he was still looking around for more. :D
