At the same point though its not like people didnt have issues before that, even before Adam and Kenny and Dale. You got Eric Martin, JD McDuffie(for the oldies), Neil Bonnet, Blaise Alexander, John Nemecheck, Tony Roper, Russell Phillips all within a span of 10 to 15 years all suffering head injuries from a head on collision.
Ernie Irvan, Jerry Nadeau, Ricky Craven, and Steve Park all had serious injuries that could have been prevented as well. It really wasnt until Earnhardt's death that the focus became safety.
At the same point the risk has been a part of NASCAR and regardless of how safe the cars get well always have a chance of something going wrong.
