Wrong again. George Mason has been all but forgotten and they actually made it to the final four.

Consistent winning is the epitomy of success. Not one year wonders who never can knock off the big boys with regularity.

You knock off the big boys in regular season...and truthfully you haven't really knocked off anyone that big. GT didn't make the tournament, and Miami is a football school that just happened to have a good bball team this year. Winthrop has not beaten UNC or UConn (George Mason did...IN the NCAA tournament, no less). Winthrop is to men's bball what Liberty is to women's...able to dominate a small conference, be a threat in the first round of the tournament, get mentioned in ESPN articles about mid-majors, but most years makes no noise and loses in the first round.

exactly....that is all that matters...what is done in the tournament....if you can't win in the tournament you are going to get much recognition....LU's women's team never really got mentioned until their sweet 16 run a couple of years ago....tournament wins are much more impressive then any early season win, simple as that....

Winthrop (156-63, 1-5 in NCAA tourney, went to tourney 5/7 years, 5 20 win seasons)
mason (141-79, 4-2 in NCAA tourney, went to tourney 2/7 years, 2 appearances in NIT, 3 20 win seasons)
davidson (155-62, 3-4 in NCAA tourney, went to tourney 4 out of 7 years, 1 elite 8 appearance, 5 20 win seasons, 1 appearance in NIT and advanced to 3rd round)

Look at Davidson's numbers compared to WU and Mason. And you're saying they are 4th out of those schools?

Kansas looked tough last night and really took it to UNC. KU seems like they have what it takes to go the distance. It will be interesting to see how they match up against Memphis. If KU takes Memphis down convincingly, then people may point to the Davidson contest as their biggest challenge and most difficult win en route to a title. Who woulda thunk it? In fact, Davidson nearly knocked off two other final four participants in the regular season, North Carolina & UCLA. Curry and Co. are definetly for real.

I agree that overall Winthrop is a better program...but what I think is being argued is that this team that Davidson has is better then any team that Winthrop has ever had...does this magically make Davidson a better program overall?? no...but this season the team that Davidson put together was better then anything WU ever has had....because they won the games that mattered, that is what really good teams do.....

Was Richards the point guard? If they are losing him they may not be as good. In my opinion he was crucial to their success.

Yes, I think that he led the nation in assists last year---feeding Curry, of course. But, I agree, Richards had an outstanding all around game.

I heard somewhere that Coach McKinnion has a son who may be sharing time at the point next year with Curry. When Curry's playing point, we may see more of Barr at the 2.

Either way, they'll still be good. This team plays great defense and they have an unstoppable scoring threat in Curry.

Curry is definitely playing the 2. Coach McKillop may be getting the stanford job though. If he does, a coaching change would affect the team in a negative way possibly. Steph told me that Richards is the best player he ever played with.
