nope, you're just a Winthrop hater...admit it Sly.... :D

wow... what kool-aid has he been drinking? Realist? not hardly...lol

yeah, he pretty much cost them the first 3 games by taking so many shots there too... darn that steven curry... even if he IS sinking game winning buzzer beaters after scoring over 100 pts in 3 games... when are we gonna see some REAL talent in the NCAA?

I don't know about lemonade, but maybe I'll take a swig of your malt liquor out of a brown paper bag one day

Have fun with your Davy fantasies. WU will still be winning like we always have as the one shot wonders come and go.

Hate to be the one to break this to ya, but the only one shot wonder here is Winthrop---one win and ten losses in the tourney. Davidson has three final eight appearances, and were a shot away from the final four this year.

Hate to break it to you, but Davy has beaten 2 BCS teams in 10 years, WU multiples.

Keep chugging on the malt para.

So, ya had early season wins against Marquette and Providance on their off years. Who cares?

Ya got one tourney win in ten tries and maybe beat a top-25 once or twice in the regular season. This current run by Davidson triples your team's output for tourney wins and dwarfs any bragging rights that you thought you had about top-25 competiton.

Again, Winthrop is not even in the conversation with Davidson. We really should be comparing Winthrop to Sienna & San Diego. Nice accomplishments for smaller schools, but miles away from what Davidson just did.

BCS??? I thought this was college basketball....... :D

in all seriousness...WU has the better program....Davidson has had a better team then WU has ever had...there is a difference...how is this argument still going on.....

i tell you what, i'd rather be winning in the ncaa tournament as opposed winning games in the regular season and sitting home to watch the second round of the ncaa tournament. ask every winthrop player which they would eather be doing: playing in the elite 8 or losing in the first round every year

Again, Winthrop is in a different conversation---the one that includes Sienna, San Diego, and Hampton.

Winthrop wasn't even a minor threat to win a tourney game except for a small three year window during the final three years of Martin & Bradshaw. The last time I checked that window closed last year after Martin, Bradshaw, and coach Marshall left. Gaynor & Jenkins put a dead bolt on the thing after this season. Sounds like someone's gonna need a hug

Because it needs to be more relevant to today's culture. Something involving walking around in the rot with a 4 foot sword.

Davidson > Winthrop...yes, Winthrop may have had more success against teams from BCS conferences...but the tourney success of Davidson and George Mason makes them more prominent and more accomplished mid-majors. Davidson now has an Elite 8 banner to hang from its rafters and George Mason a Final Four banner...Winthrop: 2nd Round Banner. Its NCAA results that people remember, not big wins during the regular season.

Wrong again. George Mason has been all but forgotten and they actually made it to the final four.

Consistent winning is the epitomy of success. Not one year wonders who never can knock off the big boys with regularity.

there's more people around here who have heard of george mason than winthrop, and we are in big south "territory"

to tell you the truth, no one outside of the big south really gives a crap about winthrop. not an insult directed towards them, but no one is going to give a crap if you never make it past the second round. you can brag all you want about regular season and big south success, but people ask any player in america what they'd rather want: regular season wins or ncaa tournament wins. if any college player at any level says anything other than ncaa tournament then I question their motivations for playing college basketball.

Since the Marshall Era began, all 3 teams (GMU, DC, and WU) have had about equal success in terms of wins and losses, which really is what measures "success", not "if people know about you".

I would say that WU is just as good as Davidson, GMU, or Gonzaga in terms of overall success.

Wrong again. The barometer for a program's success is long term viability. One shot wonders aren't known but for a sparing moment, then forgotten. Do it consistently, it becomes not a big deal. You guys are a case in point, making a big deal out of Davy, b/c Davy has never beaten BCS schools.

I hope you aren't saying I am wrong?

Davy and GMU are NOT one shot wonders, and please don't make me dig through their schedules again to prove you wrong. GMU especially, since Larannaga has been there.

if anyone is a ONE shot wonder, it would be winthrop. only ONE ncaa tournament win. davidson and george mason have multiple tournament wins and have each advanced to the elite 8. winthrop has advanced to the second round once and thats it.
