I remember those glory days during RD's interim term well; I had an employee who coached the cheer leading squad, and he invited me to come down and sit in the section that was reserved for them. It just so happened that the section was directly beside the LU bench. After the game I wondered how the things that I heard being said from the sidelines could be overlooked and why the offender had not been fired yet. Other than the chair throwing, one could assume that our head coach was a protege of Bobby Knight.
Having been a longtime fan of LU ( I even got to watch them play a game at Jefferson Forest ), I have to agree with a previous poster. I think that Meyer, and what he did at Liberty will take more than 3 or 4 years to top. I think that the character of the kids and the type of game they play coming out of high school is part of the reason. Hopefully RM's recruits will be team players and have a solid work ethic.
If you compare RD to Bobby Knight then it would do everyone on this board a favor for you to stay away from the basketball section for 2-3 years. Thats crazy talk.

And I hope youre not looking for good work ethic from McMasters.

I understand your personal feelings on this subject, but you don't have to trash someone who has yet to arrive on campus.

Haha if youre saying im worried about him being better than TB, Wont happen, not worried about that.

All I know is what I hear from coaches in his high school area and people around his high school program. I pray that Im wrong, but I havent heard anyone more creditable tell me different.

That's fine, but we don't know how he'll be at LU until he gets here.

My previous post had nothing to do with Tyler. There is plenty of playing time for both Tyler and Carter.

Oh ok well then I dont know what you were talking about... and youre right We wont know what will happen until he is here. And I hope he gets here and just blows up to be the greatest player in the history of the Big South. But Right now (to me anyway) his record shadows what COULD happen.

I also heard those words come out of Coach Dunton's mouth. Checkmate, unless you were sitting behind the bench or close to it for each game then you cannot say that RD never cussed.
Dude, who cares about Dunton's language. I'm really not sure how many people would complain if we had hired Bobby Knight instead of Dunton (as I advocated back in the day) and he was in the process of leading us to another championship / top 25 finish.

I don't know why anybody is even talking about this. It wasn't cited as a reason for his lack of contract extention and has nothing to do with anything. The only person who should care about this is RD, and I don't think he gives a flip what us messageboard losers think of him. On to the next subject.

I went to college with Carter's dad, Tommy McMasters, and NO ONE worked harder in practice or in the games than Tommy did. If Carter is anything like his dad, he'll be a workhorse and a gym rat and a major contributer.

And Dickens is an idiot.[/quote]

From the sidelines this appears to be the most creditable quote in the post. I just returned from a luncheon sponsored by RD for missionary efforts in Africa. One of his friends from Texas who drills wells was featured. Twenty or more business leaders from the community were there. No cussing or bitterness just a good man raising support from people to help and reach others in need with the gospel. I am tired of the false picture some on this board create. RD is a very good coach who had us in the right direction. But one must consider the motive and maturity of some behind the keyboards inorder to make sense of the insanity printed.

First, I don't think of you have an accurate understanding of the term "sidelines".

Second, I'm not actually that impressed that someone managed to avoid cursing at a luncheon full of missionaries.

I don't know, but it seems like a nice way to end a thread that's got a lot of mud slinging for what appears to be no reason.

his peers think this is a huge issue from what i have read. Like father like son, doesn't always translate.

For every bad father/son comparison I can give you a good one. We won't know until he arrives on campus. Can't we leave it at that?

Is this the WU board? Why are we trashing one of our own recruits? The highest rated one at that. The kid hasn't even stepped on campus yet and we're questioning his work ethic because of something we "heard". Step up and tell us who you heard it from.

I don't care if he cusses, personally. I just took offense that he looked me dead in the eye and said he never did and then the next night I heard multiple cuss words come out of his mouth.
