Home court advantage means a lot. I hope we can overcome it though. The game notes say that 9 of the 11 years we have gone to the tournament we have been matched up with the host team! That really does make a difference. We are 2-2 on neutral floors in the NCAA tournament.

NORFOLK — They’re two of the most storied mid-major women’s basketball programs in the state of Virginia; two schools separated by four hours.

Old Dominion has won every Colonial Athletic Association regular-season and tournament championship since joining the league 17 years ago. Liberty has dominated the Big South in the last decade, winning 11 of the last 12 conference tournament titles.

Even so, the teams have never met in the regular season. The only times the Flames and Monarchs have been on the same floor was in 1997 when a top-seeded ODU team routed Liberty by 50 points in the Flames’ first-ever NCAA tournament appearance.

According to my Dish Network TV Guide, the game will also broadcast on ESPNA (in Virginia only) as well as on ESPN2, which everyone already knows about. I wonder how many Carolina fans will be flipping back and forth between both games?
