Theyre hot in the best conference in the counrty. I didnt but a Big East Tourney Win goes a long way. Same with Clemson, who played very well through the ACC.

who cares if they're hot? It's a well known cardinal sin to pick an or slightly above average team from a major conference that went on a hot streak to either win their conference champ. game or reach it. Never pick teams like that to get any further than the Sweet 16. It happens to virtually every team with that resume. Why? They have already proven they are fairly beatable and they are an average or slightly above average team that got lucky and luck like that generally doesn't last more than 4 or 5 games, especially with that break in between the confernece and ncaa tournaments! Gerry McNamara's Syracuse squad and Pitt, Clemson, and Georgia this year are the most notable examples.

Their record and conference season wasn't a true showing of their team because they had one of their top players hurt. With him back, they made a run through the Big East tournament, and people saw the real Pitt team that was there before Christmas. That's the reason people picked Pitt.

Even when they got Levance Fields back, there wasn't a whole lot to be said about their resume when he returned. He returned against Marquette, they were 3-4 before the big east tournament after he returned from injury, defeating nobodies in syracuse, cincinnati, and depaul while losing to marquette, notre dame, louisville, and west va. Even when they were healthy, which was any game before Duke, they hadn't beat anyone worth talking about, with their best win OOC coming against Oklahoma St. Also, nearly everyone in America has failed to realize that in the Duke win, they lost a fifth year senior start that provided valuable talent, experience, and leadershp in Mike Cook that they failed to replace all season.

If not for the luck run through the big east tourney, they probably would have been in the 7-9 seed range.

nova looked good today, although I know nothing about siena. siena did beat vanderbilt, but vanderbilt is terrible away from their unique homecourt of memorial gymnasium. They were 2-8 on the road in SEC games, beating Georgia and South Carolina, while getting blown out on the road at tennessee, florida, and mississippi. They beat three nobodies on the road in OOC play - toledo, bradley, and depaul - and those were their only 3 OOC road games. The writing on the wall should have indicated that they were very likely to lose to Siena since they weren't playing at home.

as far as i'm concerned, the big east has been the best ever since the year when marquette and the other schools entered it all at the same time.

The knock on the Big East was that they're good simply by shear numbers. That's not the case anymore. Their top eight teams are very good teams. Granted, the bottom four are normally pretty bad, but the top half is always very good.

The bottom of any conference is generally pretty bad, even the ACC even though ESPN likes to hype up the ACC like every team is an ncaa tourney caliber squad...

I think the last part of your statement is pretty far-fetched. No one this year has said UVA, NC State, or Wake are NCAA caliber teams or anywhere close to it.

Most people said the ACC deserved four teams (Carolina, Duke, Clemson, and Miami). They did deserve those teams. Some of the seeds they were given turned out to be too high, but they at least deserved to be in the tournament.

This is awesome, makes it a lot easier for my final four pick wisconsin to reach san antonio, plus everyone else in my pool had gtwon in the elite 8!

and with the WKU win, my chances of winning the pool are looking better and better every day

and this once again proves why I hated GTown to do anything in the tourney. they've got a 7'2" beast in Hibbert and they fail to utilize his gigantic size advantage when he was in the game.

The 'Canes gave the Horns some anxious moments int he closing seconds. But UT moves on for their home games here in Houston later this week.

And that Davidson upset was fun to watch. I believe Gtown fans may have been the ones to first do the "OverRATed" chants back int he day. Today they were on the receiving end of it.

if Louisville makes it to the ELite 8 like I have them, it looks like they could give UNC one heck of a game. they are absolutely destroying 6 seed oklahoma. their beatdown is every bit as impressive as UNC's current beatdown of arkansas.
