Mike Jefferson and Anthony Smith should be on that team ahead of George, and maybe even Garland, who strung together a bunch of awful games during UNCA's losing streak.

Gaynor vs. Leasure as first team? Tough call. I think a lot of voters were wooed by Leasure's career accomplishments, and Gaynor's pure numbers weren't eye-popping.

And before the Winthrop fans kill me (and they will anyway), I understand it's not all about numbers all the time. I guess I could see Gaynor ahead of Leasure, but both had stretches of inconsistency this year. So I guess it could be a toss up. This was a tough year to crack the first team, just because Reid, Williams, McLean and Smithson were so good in terms of their pure numbers.

Gaynor has a ton of intangibles going for him and he's extremely mentally tough. I love his game. I just didn't think he was slam-dunk first team, that's all.

And on Gaynor, a first-team inclusion would have been a career award. I know he leads the conference in steals and A/TO ratio, but he's like 24th in scoring and sixth or seventh in assists. Tough to make him first team.

I really feel validated when Lang agrees with me so closely!
