Agreed JM...we're setting ourselves up nicely to be in the running every year in the BS and then build on this to go to that next level that WU got a taste of but was unable to sustain

We won the big south title. We beat two ACC schools, the most we ever had. We have one of the best recruiting classes of any mid-major. How are we unable to sustain?

Maybe you guys should finish higher than 4th in the league before worrying about surpassing the dynasty in the league.

Our previous coach only finished below 3rd once in five years and was 2nd or 1st three times. Certainly we were in position to make a run at the top again. We finish 3-5 in the last 8 BS games. But the spin is always turning.

Hmm I remember similar statements for when we entered "The Faison Era". What is he getting, 10 minutes per game?

You are pulling out the "spin" card for that. Puuuuuuuuuuhleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeese!

Pots and kettles checkmate.

You are constantly pointing out anything positive which happened when RD was coach and either totally ignoring or brushing over anything negative. That is the very definition of "spin". ie: constant referral to regular season finishes in BSC while ignoring overall losing record and early elimination from conference tourney.

"Certainly we were in a position to make a run at the top"??????
We were picked to finish 6th
Not even the biggest Koolaide drinkers on this board thought we were going to win this year, but to make your point you are willing to say we "shoulda been a contenda". Spin Spin Spin. I'm getting dizzy

Yes, since he has two all conference guards starting ahead of him. He has the second highest offensive efficiency on the team, shoots 44% from downtown and can get to the basket as well. :D

I'll have to back Realist on this. Although I do feel like Faison was way overhyped, it's too early to tell how big an impact he is going to make. Next year they will need him on the court, and we will know.

He's been on campus two seasons with little impact. That's where LUconn was going with his comments. But I agree that the jury is still out on Byron.

Can you spell finishes as 2-1-2-3 that is no spin it is facts. Can we spell a roster with Brewington and others as a contender? can we spell 3-5 in the last eight games. If that makes the adminstration and fans happpy then the standards have dropped. Also less than 3,000 fans at a season ending Radford game speaks loud.

Touchy subject I guess...heres where I was going...yes you guys did dominate the big south for several years but that NEXT level which is what I was talking about is knocking off teams in the tourny, which you were UNABLE to sustain, and you cant possibly tell me that WU has a team to do that again anytime soon. Thats why the sustain comment was made.

But hey, keep living in the past with your tourny wins...thats when teams will pass yall in the future simply b/c your looking behind you when everyone else is looking ahead

As far as anyone but a few diehards like you know, our roster would have been no different this year if RD were coach. As far as I can tell, Orukpe is still in Nigeria, and Dwight Brewington insists his decision to turn pro had nothing to do with the coaching change. Did he lie???

Oh, and by the way, you have illustrated my point by conveniently eleminating the 20005-6 season. It was 2-1-2-8-3 with losing overall records and zero BSC tournament wins in the past 3 years.

I'm pretty sure he was broke and couldn't pay to live in his house anymore.

That's what we were told in a class last year. (HMO edit...could be a comment that could get names in trouble for speaking about the issue)

We had less than 3000 for VMI, and less than 3000 for Senior Night.

We lose. Shut up. Get over it.

Just because you don't like checkmate doesn't mean he is always wrong. It does speak loud, we have a LONG way to go.

Oh, and take out the Kenny George game. People were hear to see the tall guy, not Liberty Basketball...

We aren't getting that many more people, don't act like we have taken off and are at new heights. Will we be? Probably.

Are we on our way? Sure.

Are we there? Not yet...

I know it is touchy but checkmate does have a point with a 3-5 bs finish and a vanishing crowd
