Girlfriend was a trainer for LU a year ago. She and momma went out after coach rocco went out, before I could stop them. Dad stood at the top of the stadium, and was heard saying "rub some dirt on it." When they took him to the ambulance, I got movin'. Coach Rocco told mom, I thought it might be his spine.

Makes a little sense if she had experience out there. Still thought it looked weird, and I love Mike and Dad. I just look back to Elon when she was flipping out when he had a stinger.

I don't want to make light of the ankle injury, but in the first quarter Mike got a stinger and I saw dad by the railing walk away and say, "Ehh, it's just a stinger, he'll be fine" and had to laugh.

Mike will be alright. He's a tough kid. He'll be back next year and even better.

Yeah he did have a stinger in a game or two remember that, I sure hope he has a quick recovery, a look forward to his presence next year. He is such a tough guy, he was still cheering as they took him off the field. I have never seen the spirit that I see in Liberty's team, and fans, I am so moved by the last 3 years that I have experienced this, I am a Liberty fan for life, you guys deserve to be celebrating, you were with them all the way.

Along with Mike, don't forget to pray for the surgeon who operates on him. I cannot emphasize enough how crucial this is, and I know from personal experience. I have a virtual hardware store in my left leg after shattering my tibia in a motorcycle accident 8 years ago.

The bone can be put together and will heal. It's pretty much high tech carpentry. To get to the bone through muscles, blood vessels and nerves without doing damage is the difficult and risky part. This will NOT be done arthroscopically. There will be a HUGE incision and scar. My surgeon, Dr. Ghandi, was born in India (no funny accent; he moved here when he was young and went to med school at UNC), and his term for this kind of operation was "we're going into tiger country". I thank God for him pretty much every time I look at my scars.

I'm sure Mike will have top notch medical service. I know in the past most if not all of the major surgury for our athletes has been done at the Cleveland Clinic. Not sure if that is still the case.

Just an update on Mike. He was rescheduled for his surgery this morning. All went well and we have him back at the apartment and will be taking him home tomorrow to Mansfield. He had a plate with 8 screws attached to the fibula and a long screw that goes from outside toward the inside bolting the fib and the tip together. He is to have no weight on it for 6 weeks, then a walking cast for six more. That puts us into Feb. where the metal comes out, and rehab/therapy begins. The goal, spring ball ready with an air cast. Doc says all went well. Thank you for your prayers and kind words. Coach Roc and Wach both calling, on their way over to Lynchburg Hospital, but he did so well, he was released early. Coaches are caring, class acts.

Note to Super Jon. Girlfriend somehow got a hold of some surgigal garb, and actually got into the operating room riding under the gurney, below the radar. The gall of this gal!

Wait, wait, wait....Mommy and girlfriend were out on the field???? Did they fight over which one would kiss the boo-boo? Nothing strikes fear into a defensive lineman like the love of a couple of good women. Is mommy going to let him play next year, you know football can be a rough sport....maybe the Flames synchronized swimming team needs a new member.

I get the sense that 1b1f3b is at least a passing aquaintance of our Mr. Godsil already. You don't see many Cleveland Barons references these days.

RagingTireFire, I assure you that I would having nothing to do with any team from Cleveland and would not "reference" any. I prefer teams that win.

Then the Amelia Battlin' Barons? That's an Ohio team ... and my mother's alma mater.

Mr. Fox, With all due respect to your lovely mother, all I know about Amelia is it's near the River. Did she ever visit you on the football field?

Stop by the BBQ/Tailgate at the YState game next season. Grab some ribs and say hello. Just look for the red Block "O" flag, 4 grills, two tables of food, no idea how many coolers, tents, about 50 people, OSU or ND marching bands on the stereo, two or three Liberty flags and a bunch of kids with "07 Big South Champs" shirts running around. If you were at the Toledo game last year you'll know what to look for. By the way, loose to the Rockets at their place by 1 point.....I busted Mike's chops pretty good over that one, too.

Wendy's hasn't been winning anything in a long time and I can't thing of anything else in Dublin (or anywhere other than Southern Ohio) worth noting. :typing

As for the Cloeveland Barons, I used to watch them on WUAB when I was a kid and they were better than the watching the Tribe ... but not by much.
