I have been up there a few times and I really wish they would have made a campus golf course up there. Since they did not do that then the "off campus housing" seems to be the next thing that makes since for the University.
purely speculation, but i have heard talk of the possibility of an 18-hole course in the liberty village area.
Now THAT would be cool. I thought at one point we were supposed to have something like that over where East Campus is now.
A golf course, if done right, would be great for the university AND the golf team. And by right, it would mean forking over some $$ to have a name architect (perhaps a Christian PGA Pro who also designs) involved. If it is not done right...or RUN RIGHT...then it would be flushing money down the toilet. The more I think of it...I think of a school like Methodist Univ in NC...which has a Golf Management Program...a course on campus...and arguably the top D3 golf school for men and women in the country. Certainly, LU can do something like that, too. Add a women's golf team, as well. This thing, if true, would be a boon to both ACADEMICS and ATHLETICS!.
