I really have a hard time caring this time. The GOP sucks up to evangelicals every election, then ignores us the rest of the time (except for having those neat prayer breakfasts every so often, to see if we'll give them money). Neither party has done anything in the last eight years or so to really make me thing that they can do anything right.
I like Huckabee, in part because he's willing to do what's necessary even if it's not popular. Stuff needs fixing, government needs the money -- let the people decide how much they want it. If they want it enough to raise taxes to get it, then so be it. No, I don't like paying a ton in taxes, but I also want to know that the bridge I drive across every day to work is going to hold me and not collapse. And yeah, I'm willing to pay a little more in taxes for that. Maybe I'm nuts, though.
But I think the main reason I like Huck is because the power brokers don't like him. Rush Limbaugh doesn't like him. Maybe that's what we need -- someone who is going to shake some people off their pedestals.
