[Hold My Own]

I just started playing around with Onenote and I'm very impressed. It's set up to look like a true notebook with tab's and different folders and such. It would be great for a student taking notes for different classes.


I'm using it for my Business. I have different tabs set up for different aspects that I need to take notes on and such....it's offered on the new Microsoft Enterprise edition (which I got at the student price of $20)


You guys should check it out....the options are limitless

its also included in office home and student edition and office ultimate. so basically if you get office 2007 you get onenote. i did the trial run over the web to see what it's like and it is pretty neat. now if only I could use it on the iPod Touch I intend on getting sometime in the near future...

They built some of the OneNote stuff into Office 2004 and are expanding it in Office 2008. I'm running the beta but haven't played with Word yet. I don't really have any use for the notebook stuff, but what was in Office 2004 was pretty neat.

I'll see if I can upload some screen shots...it really is neat it's worth the extra $3 bucks or whatever it is to get the deluxe from the software distribution for students and staff

I messed with a Tablet PC that was running OneNote. You could change the color/style of paper to mimic anything you wanted -- really made me want to get it for note taking in class.

I got it with my Office 2007 suite (which cost me a whole lot more than $20, I assure you) and while it was OK I generally include my notes inside of other apps. For the record, most of the new feature son 2007 are nothing more than window dressing. And don't even think about trying to send someone a document in .docx format. Oh what a headache.

you can download an executable file from microsoft that will convert 2007 docs to be used on 2003 and earlier versions of office....

Sorry, I didn't even see this question when I answered before, but yes. The OneNote stuff came out of the Office 2004 suite (which is one of the Mac editions of Office). It's just built into Word in Office 2004 and 2008.

you can download an executable file from microsoft that will convert 2007 docs to be used on 2003 and earlier versions of office....

You dont even have to do that....you can go to 'save as' and simply save it what they call "compatibility mode" which is pre 2007

Come on HMO - you know that an operating business can't use student versions. [insert graphic of someone doing the Mutombo finger wave] Though I can't imagine Notes costing more than $29 for a full version.

yes but if you receive a .docx file then you cant open it with versions older than 2007 unless you install that thing i was talking about.

sorry I missed the RECEIVED part....I thought you were saying you had to download something to be able to save and send a version suitable for previous versions

I use outlook for a lot of the stuff you are talking about and paper tablets for the rest. I don't like to type in meetings:)
