Coach McKay just said he hopes the women pull it out, and it would be a great win for them!

Big time sigh of relief on that game. I was a little worried about the team on the road against a pretty good ETSU team. Nice to see Courtney and Megan step it up at the end. We needed that win.

Good job by the Lady Flames on beating a very good ETSU team on the road. ETSU is probably the toughest team in the A-Sun right now.

Courtney receives some love from her hometown fishwrap after playing at nearby ETSU last night ...
Watkins a steady presence for Liberty

Courtney Watkins doesn’t miss games.

The former Tennessee High star has appeared in every single game Liberty University has played since she joined the Flames as a freshman in 2004.

And there was no way Watkins, a 5-foot-9 senior guard, was going to let anything stand in the way of her reaching 110 straight games played when Liberty took on East Tennessee State on Tuesday evening in a non-conference contest at Memorial Center.

"I wanted to come out here and try and put on a good show for everyone I know," said Watkins, who scored 12 points on 4-of-7 shooting, grabbed three rebounds, dished out three assists and had two steals as the Flames held on to defeat ETSU, 64-60. "There’s a sense of urgency for me right now, because this is my senior year, and it’s the last time I’ll be able to play basketball like this."

Watkins had friends, family and former Vikings teammates to play for – a sea of Liberty-red clad "Courtney!" shouters helped fill the stands.

The staff is happy with a road win over a team that plays very well on their home floor. 13-2 is not shabby....I wonder how many we will lose in conference....is it possible to run the table in conference?

It's possible, but we have to remember we've only done it I think just twice. Considering how good some of our past teams were, that's quite a statement. Plus, the big south is much improved.

Saying all that, I still am hoping and expecting to run the table.

Actually, we've run the conference table 3 times: 1998, 2003, 2004

The Big South is better, but with the way we're playing right now its very possible to run the table.

I wasn't sure if it was 2 or 3 times. Thanks for the correction.

Doesn't matter. That's inexcuseable. The dang e-mail from Paul came it at 10:20. There's no reason something shouldn't have been in the paper. I wasn't in the office, so I don't know what happened. I e-mailed our editor to find out.
