Hopefully some of the other guys will step up. I'm sure there are some redshirt freshmen and sophomores who are ready to work hard and earn a spot...

I agree about the OL. Will be our biggest question mark going into the season.

Losing Lloyd and Vince will hurt, but we are loaded at LB. It may take them a couple of games to get rolling, but we will be fine there.

Remember who was playing when it was 70-14 against VMI?

Thats right, our starters this year.

We will be fine, these guys know how to play, and Rocco will get them ready.

It's better than no experience.

And they played against GW... Presby... CSU... Tusculum... Shippensburg... STFU...

You get the point.

They played.

Here is how I see it:

QB: Brock is the man...we're fine
RB: Rashad and Zach will be back...we'll be fine (09 maybe an issue though)
WR: We lose Brandon Turner and Wynton Jackson but will still have Dominic Bolden. Really its the question of who will step up as the #2 and #3 receivers
OL: We lose 3 starters and very well could have underclassmen starting even out of spring ball. We do have Godsil coming back though (with a fully healed leg)
TE: We lose both of the TEs that saw significant time last year in Chris Luck and Richard Thom, and Cory Rasberry will be graduating as well. We will have a number of underclassmen battling for the #1 spot once spring practice starts.
DL: Ackley is gone but we have a bunch of guys who will be back and hopefully some of the underclassmen will really step up.
LB: Vince Redd will be gone, Stevie Ray will be gone...Hursky is back and so is Bannon. The underclassmen are going to need to step up.
DB: Chris Rocco is back, Ryan Greiser is back, and Pat Calvary is back. Question is who will step up as the 4th DB with Pat Dickerson graduating.
P: Kolegue really found new life as the punter this past season, but he is graduating. Will one of the other kickers take the puinting duties or what? I know we dont recruit punters but we can't go for it every 4th down that isnt in field goal range. which brings me to...
K: Noah Greenbaum was pretty much $$$ this year for us. David Drake is back but is he the guy we can count on to be the everyday kicker? Or will Blevins have to step up as a freshman? What about that walk on that was bandied about near the end of the season.

BJ, Rasberry red-shirted this year, so he would be back next year. He will be our TE, with a couple young guns his back up. Also, Chris Rocco didn't start last year, he will take Pat's spot, thus our 4 DBs are Pat, CR, Greiser, and Kent Hicks.

BJ, sometimes I think you need to stick with band stuff.
BJWilliams wrote: WR: We lose Brandon Turner and Wynton Jackson but will still have Dominic Bolden. Really its the question of who will step up as the #2 and #3 receivers
One of our best sets last year was the four-wide set. We ran that with Wynton Jackson, Brandon Turner, Dominic Bolden, and Jonathan Crawford. It's safe to say that since two of those will be back, they'll be starters next year. With Chris Summers coming off his redshirt season, it's safe to say he'll be in there too. You have to think this stuff through.
BJWilliams wrote:OL: We lose 3 starters and very well could have underclassmen starting even out of spring ball. We do have Godsil coming back though (with a fully healed leg)
You forget to mention that we bring back Britt Stone as well and he started every game last year. You also fail to mention that our top two backups who got significant playing time in every game last year (not just mop up duty) in Josh Weaver and Zach Davis are back. I haven't even mentioned Brian Mosier who got some playing time as well and came in at guard after Godsil got hurt at G-W (Stone moved to center).
BJWilliams wrote:TE: We lose both of the TEs that saw significant time last year in Chris Luck and Richard Thom, and Cory Rasberry will be graduating as well. We will have a number of underclassmen battling for the #1 spot once spring practice starts.
Pay attention more. Coach Rocco said before the season started that Corey Rasberry would be redshirted this year so that he'd be available next year. It's the same situation Gado was in his senior year before the injuries hit the guys in front of him and he was forced into playing time.
BJWilliams wrote: LB: Vince Redd will be gone, Stevie Ray will be gone...Hursky is back and so is Bannon. The underclassmen are going to need to step up.
You fail to mention that Ian Childress, who started a couple games and played more than Bannon, is back.
BJWilliams wrote:DB: Chris Rocco is back, Ryan Greiser is back, and Pat Calvary is back. Question is who will step up as the 4th DB with Pat Dickerson graduating.
There are two or three problems with this statement. First off, you don't mention that we have Kent Hicks back. Second, Pat Dickson was a safety. Chris Rocco also plays safety. Hmm, who do you think is going to step into Dickerson's starting role. Could it be Chris Rocco? Wow, logic. It's a great thing to have.

That's just dumb. You also forget that Wes Cheek was our backup punter this year and will be back next year.

Once again, pay attention before you throw out stupid stuff. We offered a scholarship to a kicker that's verballed to us.

Well thanks for that SJ. I will admit Im no expert on LU football but Im trying. At least I didnt get hammered for my thoughts on the O and D Lines (although Im sure you wanted to say something about those too) and Bevins (the kicker that verballed) was the guy I was talking about.

No, I definitely ripped on your stuff about the OL.

And I admit, I overlooked you mentioning Blevins. That's actually impressive.

Easy on BJ. His projections weren't as off as some of you act.

I wish I were with you in Y-town, flameshaw. Thankfully its still in September and not November when it gets crazy cold up there. Right, madmat?

Like I said, I'm trying. In any case you do make good points about all the other stuff. I never noticed that Wes was our backup punter though. In any case, this will be a very fun team to watch next year, and Im sure Coach Rocco is addressing the appropriate needs with recruiting and it will make for a very nice signing day (Feb 6 I believe)

thanks for that Sly and GMTM. Hopefully now that I wont be focusing on band so much I will get better as a football guy this year. I'll have time to check out the practices in the spring and what not as well.

haha... I just thought it was a little to much, seriously just because he didn't mention 60 players doesn't mean he is stupid or a moron!!! Also my g/f has no desire to post on this website:)

Like I said jc, Im no LU football expert, but Im trying (and the last couple years I havent had much opportunity to watch the games because Im either busy helping the band in the stands or busy behind the fieldhouse helping pack stuff after halftime and only know that anything is going on by looking at the scoreboard or hearing the fight song)
