I agree SJ...that guy is QUICK

my favorite part though was when Berry and Dingle were sitting side by side on the bench and the announcer said...those are two guys that need to stay away from each other...or at least never sit in the other order

It looks like America is starting to care less about this BCS mess.
The Sugar Bowl blowout last night received a 7.9 Nielsen rating overnight which equates to only a little over 8 million households tuning into the FOX broadcast of the game. Compared to last year's New Years Day primetime game and last year's Sugar Bowl, these number are down significantly. FOX's airing of Boise State-Oklahoma on Jan. 1 last year came in at a 8.9 (nearly 10 million viewers) and the Sugar Bowl between LSU and Notre Dame totaled a 9.8 (nearly 11 million viewers). Those are drops of 11.2% and 19.4%, respectively, from last year to this year.

Last night's performance reminds me of the joke about why Texas doesn't slide into the Gulf of Mexico ...

West Virginia/Missouri would have been a very entertaining game...although I am not sure any more people would have watched.

the other problem was marketing.

I had to think twice when I couldn't find the game, only to remember it was on our local Fox affiliate.

Not a channel I'm used to tuning in to see college football.

and the pregame show was horrendous. Geico Cavemen? Are you @#$%^&*() kidding?

Devine IS better than Slaton, cuts quicker (i.e., cuts like Slaton did his freshman year, when he was 25 lbs. lighter). Stew as the new hc is only a short-term fix, I think. I'm leary if the level of national expectation can be maintained. If they can get Magee (unlikely) or Smith (more likely) to stay on as OC, they shouldn't miss a beat.

The state will love Stew as the hc now, as he is perfect for it. That's just the way WV is...

Stewart's five-year contract will pay $800,000 a year with incentives. Rodriguez signed a seven-year deal in August worth almost $2 million a year...Stewart was head coach at VMI from 1994-96, compiling an 8-25 record. He also had stints as an assistant at Salem College, North Carolina, Marshall, William & Mary, Navy, Arizona State and Air Force.

There are some within the WVU community that aren't really happy about Stewart as coach. If they play like they did against Oklahoma, they'll be saying "Rich who?" in no-time.

VMI fans are ticked. They fired the guy over something said at a practice.

ESPN News reporting the VMI issue was that he "used a racial slur" when addressing a black athlete, but WVU states they "looked into the incident and are satisfied with the way it was handled"

According to the suit, Stewart dressed down a player for "high-stepping" down the sideline after intercepting a pass during an October 30, 1996 practice, telling the player it was unacceptable conduct. Stewart then told the player to avoid giving others a reason to call him by a racial slur, the suit said.

The suit said Stewart subsequently learned that the player, who was not identified in the court papers, may have misconstrued his comment, but the player opposed Stewart's suggestion of a team meeting to discuss the matter and told Stewart "the air was clear" as far as he was concerned.

Later, Stewart learned that Babb and Bunting were conducting a "secret investigation," the suit said, and Stewart was told on December 11 that his contract was being terminated immediately.

If you want to see a great reaction, sneak up behind a VMI alum and whisper the words "General Bunting". They look at you like you just said "Bloody Mary" 3 times in front of a mirror.
