SBEC is a small private school nestled in north Mississippi and its primary competition comes from the state of Tennessee. While not known as a Magnolia State powerhouse in football, one player on the roster this year is doing his best to put them on the map. Athlete H.R. Greer leaves it all on the field and several schools have been in contact. Who has been working on this star of the future?

"He's already getting some letters," began SBEC coach Butch Veazey. "I don't know how Florida got ahold of him, but he's hearing from them, Mississippi State, Arkansas State and Memphis. That's who he is hearing from now.

"I talked to coach [Sylvester] Croom (from Mississippi State). He came by to see about him and I talked to him."

What has the two-way star done to gain early interest in a place where college coaches don't normally venture?

"He ran right at a thousand yards last year and I really didn't start running him a whole lot until about the fifth ball game," Veazey explained. "His strengths are that he likes to hit. He's a good contact player. His other strength is his workout ethic, if that tells you anything about him.

The first article came out on Christmas Day and he only had one offer from UT Martin. I think we could land him but I dought he knows much about us. We need to sell some of these kids on the fact they can ride the pine in the SEC or have a real chance to play with us. I'm sure we do this already.

By Jason Smith
Thursday, January 17, 2008

What started simply as a prayer suddenly became a reality over the weekend when Southern Baptist Educational Center senior running back H.R. Greer committed to Ole Miss during an official visit to Oxford.

"It's more than a dream come true," said Greer, a 6-1, 222-pound battering ram who will play fullback for the Rebels.

I am going to have to pay attention to Ole Miss the next four year and see how he does. May God bless him during this time.
