Does the NCAA have a policy about field/court rushing during NCAA tournament events? If not, then the NCAA needs to seriously consider making one. If so, then the facilities hosting the event do need a plan for crowd control in place. Apparently at Chattanooga, there was not one.

postman you obviously don't know anything about planning a sporting event. you didn't see the game so please go away from this conversation. i saw the game and there could have been people hurt. these are things that people like security, etc plan for in advance.

It's not like Grandma App State got mixed up in that, everyone goes down at their own risk. Its part of the experience. I am all for it and hope it happens when LSU beats Ohio State But that is all just my opinion, and as it has been said...

And I did read all 2400+ posts. It took 3 minutes. You don't bring much to the table, its all very opinionated and not backed by anything.

AS far as the Piston/Pacer brawl...a brawl is completely different then students standing on the sidelines at the end of the game...fighting is never ok even if somebody gets hurt....there are about a thousand things you could probably say when trying to argue your point, but I am not sure why you chose this one, it makes no sense...

as TTL said..we did the same thing with the Gardner Webb game and back in 2004 when we won the big south....were we classless when we did it?? of course there was no cursing...but it was the same idea....

anyways...this is a pointless debate as I think we all agree that something should have been done to prevent this...I thought it was funny watching the fans...thats it, end of story....

Here's my late two cents. People rush the field all the time AT THE END OF THE GAME and that's not the issue. The issue was that App fans came down with 5 minutes still to play, which was around 20 minutes of real time. And they completely surrounded the field and were right on top of even the Delaware players, not to mention literally stepping onto the field of play while there was still a game to be played. Football is a little different than basketball, there is a much higher chance of something major happening with 60+ guys in full armor and helmets and with testosterone flowing freely surrounded by thousands of people who I'm sure weren't telling them good game. You could even tell the announcers were pretty nervous that the scene was going to turn into a full fledged riot. Not to mention the chance of someone getting seriously hurt if players went flying out of bounds. Luckily, App had the ball, and pretty much ran right up the middle to avoid it.

There's a whole lot of blame to go around. The staff of the game somewhat, but no staff in the country is going to be able to keep thousands from flowing down if they really are set on it. App fans have a bad reputation to begin with, and they didn't help their cause. I also thought that Moore should have said something or the App players all in unison tell them to get off the field. I think the final blame lays with the school itself. They let this happen at their own games, and now they have black eye from what otherwise should have been glorious day.

Also, while I"m sure there were plenty of non-sober fans down there, I also saw plenty of what looked like 40-50 year old men and wives down there. Now I see why my dad always told me why he hated to play App and Marshall (furman grad), they are notorious for throwing beer bottles at opposing players, and now this.
