Prayer request for a job....

I graduated in May and I came home to a small town in NC after leaving LU because I wanted to be here at home while my dad was sick with cancer. Since August I've been working part-time at Sherwin-Williams. I'm getting married in September, but I have to have a job so that my fiance and I can have a place to live, pay our bills, etc. I figure my best chance of finding a job is moving away, but right now I wouldn't feel right leaving my mom after my dad died about a month ago. There is nothing to do around here for a graduate with a BS in political science. Every job opportunity I've come across either I don't hear back from them after I send a resume or have an interview, or I'm not qualified to do. The only other full-time job opportunities here are nurse, social worker and truck-driver. Thanks.

As a recent grad, I know how tough the job market is to break into. Hang in there.

Look to see if you can work for the US Postal Service during Christmas rush. They have what is called a 89 day temporary job, you will be working mainly 7 days, maybe 12 hours during Christmas rush. After 89 days, they can rehire you for 89 days again and then once you serve two 89 days tours they will let you go, you can collect unemployment then. Best thing to do is work in the nearest sectional center, usually it is near a large city where all the mail in brought in, sorted and sent out. You maybe sorting mail or unloading trucks, etc.
I did this years ago and made good money. Not sure if they have changed their 89 day positons since then but you can check
You can then take a postal exam for work with the US Postal Service later if you like that kind of work. Good luck!

Largest city I live near is Raleigh... which is about an 1.5/2 hours away... same for Richmond... I live in a town that's directly in between the two. I may look into the Post Office situation, thanks.

Ask the nearest Post office brance where is the nearest sectional center. There maybe one closer then we think.
Also ask if they still have the 89 day employee program. Good luck and my prayers are with you. BTW my first job after graduating from LBC was dishwasher at Red Roof Inn in Tampa, Fl.
