The same happened to me. I even got to watch the pregame show, then right at 7, lights out. I was so ticked!

I hope things go well. I am not just going to say that all is wonderful when the facts say otherwise. JB made decisions and we will see how it goes. Happy Thanksgiving!

I would like to know what facts you are talking about??? We lost to Kentucky by 26, big deal. If anyone thought we would actually win that game they're crazy.

even if RM likes the 3, lets face it, our players aren't good 3 shooters right now. we have some decent ones, but none that are great. they don't seem confident shooting it, which is a huge aspect in making it. if you aren't confident you can make it then you won't ever make it.

i think we need a little more balance. more back door cuts would be nice, and i know we couldn't really post up in the kentucky game b/c of patterson but i expect against other teams to see some more inside play than we did, that way when we are having a cold shooting night we can counterbalacne

OK checkmate, I'll bite. Just exactly what do you think would have been better if JB had decided to keep RD?

Blair would still be gone; and as far as Brew is concerned, to suggest that he would have stayed if RD were here is essentially to say that Brew was getting "help" from RD that RMc would not give him, which is pretty much what we all think happened anyway. If you think Ehimen Orukpe would have made a huge difference, think again. He is not playing at all for a Wichita State team which could use his size, and I'm not aware of any injuries. RD's other recruit is being held out of even minimal game participation in order to save his eligibility to use elsewhere.

Our 2008 recruiting class shapes up to be the best in school history, and all but 1 is a HS senior as opposed to collection of transfers and Jucos RD tended to sign. Yes we got whooped on by UK, but we hung tough with 3 quality teams in Fresno and have a good road win against ECU. I don't expect we will be seeing another 22 game road losing streak any time soon.

I agree w/ you and Oldflame's post above. Don't forget though, our best two three-point shooters are probably injured. Anderson was known as a 3pt shooter and TBaker has always had a good touch. Even though Smith shot well last year, I don't thick he took that many shots. Ohman is decent but probably won't be as good a shooter as TB and Anderson.

Nice guess, however my kids are in the same school.

We are all entitled to our opinion of the program. I believe the Dunton and Royer both would have been like
Pinder, Alder and Rocco. They both had worked hard to put the programs in position to win in rd case another
championship.

Contrary to some exaggerated claims, from a source close to the situation Brews mother and uncle were helping him
in a major way and he would have been back if RD stayed. Those of us who have worked with hearing impaired know
trust is a big factor.

So as we observe the progress of RM and JT some of us have opinions of how the previous staffs and families were
handled.

But don't talk about how much better the guys are playing and shooting when to date the fact is 29% from 3. Some act
like the previous staff could not judge the talent they were working with.

Congrats of the recruiting class.

You'd do best to keep opinions about such things to yourself and stop bringing this stuff up on this board.

Checkmate is not RD.

SJ gets away with whatever for whatever reason.

It's amazing how the "open forum" has been restricted in just a few short months.

You guys who were so critical, now cannot stand even the insinuation of a criticism.

RMK is doing fine

Let's not go down this road, again.

You're entitled to your opinion but the rest of us are trying to move on and support our current basketball team. There comes to a point where enough is enough--the past cannot be changed.

SJ doesn't troll the message board. If you don't understand the concept of trolling on the Internet, I suggest you look it up.
grm wrote:It's amazing how the "open forum" has been restricted in just a few short months.
I don't know where you ever got the idea that this board was "open" or in any way unrestricted, because no one here has ever said that. In fact, we have statements and notices all over the place that state quite the opposite.
grm wrote:You guys who were so critical, now cannot stand even the insinuation of a criticism.
If you can't see or understand the difference between the situation as it was and as it is now, then I feel for you. Truly.

Listen, I've really just about had it with all of this RD stuff. He is gone. He's not coming back. Those who want to hang around here and keep bringing him up are just making themselves (and him) look like bitter children. It's time for this to end. If you don't like it, there's an easy answer for that. I will not, however, allow bitterness and bitter people to take root on this board.

See this is the thing that gets me. You see we have a good class coming in, but that couldnt say hey RMc is doing a good job. The kids hes bringing in cant be good because McKay CANT be good because I already hate him for personal connections with the previous coach.

Do you actually like Liberty? Because McKay has had 5 games and youre already saying he's a bum and not giving him the time HE deserves to build a program. RD had his years did well in the beginning and it taperd off alot near the end. Liberty went in another direction.

I can understand your frustration with the coach thing, please just dont lace every post of yours with Koolaid that went sour 8 months ago.

Fact is many in the community feel like families were treat unfairly.

JB had the power and made the calls. Time will tell how it all plays out.

Listen Scorch - I'm not the guy that brings it up! But if someone else does, and I answer, you get ticked off. Tell me the rules, and I'll gladly follow them, & maybe the others will as well. Explain to me what "trolling the internet" is. If it's a bad thing, and I'm doing it, I'll stop that too.

I'm glad you've "had it." Use whatever power you have and stop "it" all, but not just with me. I've had it with that.

And, just as an aside, (and not that anyone has accused me of this, but just to set the record) I have nothing against
RMK. My guy is gone, and I neither hope, expect, not wish him to be back - that part of life is over. RMK had absolutely nothing to do with RD leaving - he's just the man who was hired to take his place. Not his fault, not his doing, and I wish him the very best.

And losing to Kentucky by twenty-something is not the end of the world, and in no way signals that the season is going in a poor direction.

I don't believe we need to discredit the past in order to praise the future,
nor do I believe I must disclaim the present to honor the past.

Go Liberty!

That's because you keep pushing it along. You don't do anything to help stop it. When someone like checkmate comes on here (and I should note that they ONLY come on here to talk about RD), you don't say a word to them or about the way they act. You just jump in and get their back like they're behaving in acceptable manner. You know it's ridiculous just as much as I do. It's ludicrous that people like checkmate get on here and say the things they do when we're well past the point in time where it was acceptable to bring this stuff up. Just because you don't bring it up doesn't mean you're in the clear.

grm wrote:Tell me the rules, and I'll gladly follow them, & maybe the others will as well. Explain to me what "trolling the internet" is. If it's a bad thing, and I'm doing it, I'll stop that too.
"An Internet troll, or simply troll in Internet slang, is someone who intentionally posts controversial or contrary messages in an on-line community such as an on-line discussion forum or group with the intention of baiting users into an argumentative response." (See the Wikipedia entry on Internet trolls)

Trolling is the lowest form of user on the Internet. Trolls are the bottom feeders of the Internet. "checkmate", and the many other users like him on this board are trolls. They don't participate in a positive way or contribute anything of substance to this community. They are simply here to serve an agenda and stir up arguments. Trolls are not ever welcome on in any Internet community, and that includes this one.
grm wrote:I'm glad you've "had it." Use whatever power you have and stop "it" all, but not just with me. I've had it with that.
You're the one who responds every time, so you probably just feel like it's always you. For what it's worth I've had it with checkmate, lureal and all of the other users who keep coming on here to stir up the same old stuff. It's immature and it's tired. Make fun if you want, but it's the truth. I honestly can't believe that adults would act this way. And for the record, if I wanted to stop it, I could. However, I'm optimistic that people will let go of their bitterness and quit holding out for some cheap moment of glory when they can point to a failure of the current coach and say "Ah ha! See! It would have been better if..." I know that's what's going on and I think it's a joke.
grm wrote:And, just as an aside, (and not that anyone has accused me of this, but just to set the record) I have nothing against

I hope you truly believe that, because it seems like the standard practice of people who come on here to argue about this subject always say something like that in order to qualify all of the things they've said prior to that. I don't know if it's serious or not, but I hope so.

I for one, feel Mel Hankinson never got a chance to prove himself. He had some great recruits coming in his final year but we let him go. Oh well. I'll get over it---someday.

For the record, grm is good people and he has never been an instigator. And I respect his loyalty to Coach Dunton. At the same time I understand the frustrations of those on here who want to put this whole ordeal behind us and move forward. I'm asking everybody to try and show some restraint on this subject and let it go for now. There will come a time when the circumstances may be revisited ... but right now as the new staff and players begin their first season is not the time and this is not the place.

With so many great things going on in the LU athletic department I hate for us to be focusing on messes from the past when we have so much to be excited about right now.
