I've seen him play recently. If he were to play (which I doubt), he wouldn't challenge Alex as the starter, but would be a significant contributor at the 4 or 5. With Vince in the game, we'd likely have TJ, BJ, Anthony, Vince, and Alex in there and would push the ball like crazy and out-athletic teams.

Send the team out to train with Josh McDougal. They would NEVER get tired.

Or give every basketball player a football to carry and have VINCE REDD chase them all over campus.

I don't think that he'll play BB either, but if he does, he'd be competing with Ozren, Russ, and Armon--in my opinion--not Alex, Rell, and Tyler.

There is a high level of athletic skill/finesse needed to be successful on the court. If Vince were agile enough to actually start and be effective as a forward for a mid-major BB program, then I'm sure that he'd be out there trying to prove it because it would raise his NFL stock immensely.

I disagree with you Dox. I think the advice he's getting is don't play because the combine is coming up. If this were his junior year, I think he would play. I don't know if you've seen him play basketball, but I have. He's more athletic than Alex, but he's a football player while Alex is a basketball player. If he were to play (which is purely speculation because he won't), he'd get significant minutes over any other reserve besides Tyler. Him and Tyler offer something so different that they would be used to change up the game. Tyler offers more of an outside presence that stretches the defense. Vince would offer an up and down the floor style game.

Side note: if Oz sees the floor, I will be more than shocked.

As much as I'd like to see a man of his physical stength pushing people around underneath, he needs to do what's best for him, and I agree that he's better off concentrating on the combines.

Unless Alex goes down, we'll be fine. He rarely fouls out.

Hate to be the one to break it to ya, especially over here on the BB side (smile). I'd love to see the guy get drafted on the first day, but I just don't think it's gonna happen (my opinion). I think that he's got a shot at being a second-day late-rounder.

I haven't heard anything about him being a major prospect. Have you? Usually stuff like that gets published somewhere at this stage of the game.

Hey, I'm just stating an opinion based on watching these guys come and go. It sounds like you may have the inside track on this one. Apparently, he's big on a few team's radar.

Who said major prospect? Most of us expect him and Sene to be 2nd day picks.

Well, that's where I had him all along on the lesser side of the prospect chain: somewhere from late-round to undrafted free agent.

I orginally said that he would improve his stock if he could prove his athleticism and agility on the court.

If possible, back to BB...

Perhaps, he can make a few cameos and work roughing up WU's McCoullah into his combine preparation regime.. a-la John Chaney... LOL

With his frame, I can't imagine him as anything other than a post player in a back-up role. He could probally help us, but he'd most likely want more minutes on the floor than Mckay can commit to.
thats the dumbest thing you have ever said. its apparent that you haven't been to an LU football game this year.

Actually, I'm a regular. I'm just a tad bit less emotional than you

dox, I have nothing personal against you, and probably agree with you more often than a lot of guys here. But............

Why do you keep making these little references to Vince Redd being nothing but a banger on the basketball court when you have never seen him play basketball? I haven't either, but he sure showed me plenty of athleticism on the football field. As a rush end/linebacker he was among the BSC leaders in interceptions and passes defended, and his league-leading sack total was achieved with speed, not brute force. At least one person who has seen him play basketball says he is more athletic than Ace, who probably has the best speed/agility of any big in the BSC. (McCullugh from Winthrop doesn't count because he's playing out of position.)

Yes, I'm sure it is also a stretch in the other direction to compare him to Gabe Martin.

I think the Gabe comparison came from the fact that they both have kuckle dragging length arms.
