I know this is off-topic...but I'm still trying to listen to the game...

I have a Pentium 3, I think 900Mhz, 256 megs ram, and a 56K modem...however, I can only get connection speeds of around 28.8K to 31.2K...the audio keeps breaking up.

I can buffer for a minute...and I can get two minutes of audio before I lose it using Windows Media Player series 9.

Does anything else play these files besides mediaplayer (something that might work better without breaking up?)

Amazingly, I've managed to hear when most of the goals were scored...4-2 so far.

Yeah, I'm on a company broadband and I've had no problems with the audio stream (unlike the video stream of the mens game that died in the 2nd half).

You might try Realplayer. But it may be time to see if you can upgrade that CPU. They have gotten ridiculously cheap in the past year.

Awesome game. Tons of energy. Yelling at the goalie from right behind the goal is fun. We need to play more than 5 songs during the game. I'll expand later.

The stream is right at 32k... so a typical 56k modem will be able to handle it as long as you connect between 32-40k... at 28.8 it is going to have to buffer... just because of the numbers. Since we are a music station 90% of the time, we are at 32k.... music really doesn't work any lower res than that. I wish there was some way to tune it down for sports but that was the compromise. There was even talk of 64k to have the music sound great... but I knew that would cost us all modem listeners.

great game in front of 2,400....there were more people there, but they could only sell 2,400 tickets. IUP scored the equalizer with less than a minute after they pulled the goalie. the overtime was played in the IUP zone, as the flames really did not have much gas left as it seemed. im sure kirk and the boys were disappointed with the outcome, but it was an incredible atmosphere, and included an ice sculpture that said "Liberty" outside the front of the LaHaye Center. thanks again to GMTM, for the VIP seats for SCAR and myself. in off hockey related, SCAR and myself had a chance to meet rashad jennings last night. what a nice guy. he is ready to get rolling, and he said his father's health is much better.

Who does the audio for the games? I have a ton of ideas that I think would be really good. I've done audio for two years for baseball and have helped with football so I have that frame of thinking down. There was just too much slow stuff going on and then there are some fun quirky stuff that can be added to make it really fun. I mean, they played Train two or three times. I kept expecting like Five For Fighting or something like that to be played. That's not hockey music.

We were all laughing like crazy with the music they were playing during the fight in the first period. C'mon, that's gotta be the easiest music to come up with. You can play I Think I Love You as a joke, Why Can't We Be Friends, I Wanna Hold Your Hand, dumb stuff like that.

Another suggestion is look around for up tempo covers. Summer of 69 was a great song to play, but MxPx covered the crap out of it and it's a lot more up beat and would get people more pumped for the game, in my opinion.

Intermission's getting better. I wish they would've announced who the girl figure skating was. All of a sudden some random girl was just skating on the ice and they didn't say anything about it.

Also, I don't know who the girl that does the announcements during the game, but it's really hard to understand her. Whoever does the main PA announcing with players names and stuff is great, it's just hard to understand the girl.

That's about it for now. If I have anything else I'll post it.

Well I know that the regular DJ was not allowed to DJ last night... Plus they kinda had to tone down alot bit because the Lahaye's were there.... For those of you i.e Sly Fox and PaMedic, FSN32 as advertised took a barrage of pictures and good ones as always; check them out at www.flamessports.com For those of you who missed the interviews from This week in Flames Athletics we are gonna try to get them up in the next few days..

More than likely, the music was toned down a great deal with the LaHaye's being in the building.

I really wish they wouldn't charge the students money to come to the games. I understand it's pulling in some cash for the upkeep but with the activity fee already around $200ish, they could probably pull from there.

Otherwise, LU Hockey's team is going to be dynamite once they go D1.

Thanks to Sly for the shout out on the boards during the broadcast...I hope I sounded alright to you...

I will say that the last goal IUP got was junk. They should be thanking their lucky stars to finish with a tie.

missed the whole game, busy at home- disappointing to hear the outcome, seeing as we were up by 2 goals. Hopefully a learning experience for Coach Handy's guys.

over on the old board, it was made mention that this tie will hurt us in the seedings. Seeing as how IUP was ranked #1 in the SE region- I tend to think that may not be the case. Guess we'll see.

It was a great game - we should have one, but other than that - the night was unbelievable. The arena is top notch. Once the bleachers get here - the place should be the best in Central Virginia.

I only hope the students continue to show up. I think the $5 is good business. The activities charge is not enough to cover sports like this. It has no budget from Athletics and needs to be self supported. Hockey is an exciting sport and our team is good - the students should and will pay to see it.

My only complaint -

The music was atrocious - the person that ran the board should really find another function. There is plenty of good Christian music to play. I sure hope that the room where Dr. Falwell and the LaHaye's sat didn't have sound. I don't listen to all Christian music - but being a Liberty event we should carry over the same policies of other LU functions. We run the music for other events and constantly get called out for playing more aggressive Christian music, such as Toby Mac, but we continue to play it, because when the days is done - the lyrics are clean and there is no chance to mix our messages. Sitting there hearing songs that had "knocking boots" in them and Queen - Come on. It was bad enough, but then to hear the same songs over and over. :) Boy – now I sound like the those people that complain about the music in Vines – but I see what they mean.

They have always charged students for hockey games, it's nothing new, and it's one of the few sports and atmospheres around town that is worth paying for. And you have to remember that probably everyone that works the games, from the tickets to security to music, they're all volunteers doing it for Christian Service credit. I did about two years worth of security for the hockey games when they played at the Roanoke Civic Center, it was pretty much the best Christian service gig around (that and set up for concerts). But the music can almost always be better, and so much of it has to do with taste. For a year or two my roommate did the music and it was excellent, but I'm sure some people would have like him to play more Christian music.

I threw in some suggestion for new music. Bands like MxPx, Relient K, Anberlin, and others could be used if you must stick with Christian music. Shoot, throw in Oh Canada by Five Iron Frenzy as a tribute since we don't sing the actual Oh Canada (FIF's version is just about Canada, not the national anthem). I've done music before for my high school and you can have a ton of fun with it and still be clean.

I don't like the last two but they'd work.

Roper has a song or two you can use.

Anything up tempo not from 1984 or earlier would be good. Drops of Jupiter by Train is not a good hockey song.
