Come on, Lang. You scoped the SWAC? You should know that they don't participate in the playoffs.

SWAC champion doesn't participate. The second-place team is eligible. Grambling will be the champ. AAMU second.

It's things like this that make me want to see Liberty in the FBS. That is a joke. At least the Bowl Games have it right with all the champions getting in.

You're right, I stand corrected. Even so, the SWAC has not had a playoff participant since Jackson St. in '97.

The SWAC division champs play in the conference title game, which is scheduled as the same weekend as the first round of the playoffs. Grambling vs. Jackson State this year. So actually, AAMU is the third place team in that league with no good wins.

And they (AAMU) have a lower GPI than we do.

BTW, :38 into the game, Toledo up 7-0 on Ball.

Scratch that. 1:19 into the game, tied at 7. It must suck to be a Toledo fan.

GPI is at collegesportingnews.com

the link to the current GPI isn't working for me.

And yes, being a Toledo fan really does suck, did you see how many fans they had at homecoming?

I almost want to root for Ball State, since I have been to their mall by the school, and I like it a lot.

Resident SWAC expert present ... don't even give Alabama A&M a second thought because the committee won't.

Toledo up 20-13 with 4:55 left but Ball State driving and just scored with a QB keeper. Tied up now.

Jalen Parmalee is a great running back. Reminds me of Rashaad Jennings.

We have a better game thread going here than for either of our two basketball games.

You have yet to spell Rashad's name right the entire season.

Chris Lang wrote:Really, there are about two berths up for grabs.

Eastern Washington gets a middling Weber State team at home, and if it wins to get to 8-3, EWU is in. 8-3 in the Big Sky is traditionally a lock.

UMass and Richmond are both in, no matter who gets the auto bid.

Southern Illinois (9-1) is a lock.

Appalachian State (8-2) is a lock.

Delaware (8-2) is a lock.

James Madison (7-3), vs. 3-7 Towson at home, is a lock if it wins.

There are six of your at larges right there.

The teams LU should be watching Saturday:
Norfolk State (7-3) ... they host Winston-Salem State, and even with a win, I don't think NSU is a lock at 8-3 and in second-place in a weak MEAC. SCSU and Hampton were both down this year. You don't want Hampton beating Southern Illinois Saturday. That would give the MEAC a bump in the committee's eyes and more credence to NSU's win at HU.
You have to remember that NSU has only six wins. if they loose they are right there with us with a bad loss to howard.

Hofstra (7-3) ... if Hofstra beats UMass, it's a disaster for the Flames' hopes. That would pretty much seal a berth for the Pride.
(you must remember Hofstra has a really bad loss to northeastern. Even with a win they still might not get looked at.)

Albany (7-3) ... they play at Central Connecticut (6-4). Albany has what LU needs, a signature win. They beat Fordham, the Patriot League champ. Also, their losses are good losses, to Hofstra, Montana and Colgate. You need Albany to lose. They'd be more attractive at 8-3 than Liberty.

Colgate (7-3) ... they finish at Holy Cross (6-4), have a good win against Albany and good losses to UMass and Fordham. The Cornell loss is a bad one. You need to root for Holy Cross here.

Eastern Illinois (7-3) ... finish at home against Samford (4-6). The OVC has been awful this year. No good wins for EIU and a bad loss at a 4-7 Illinois State team. The Big South is ranked ahead of the OVC in the GPI, so that's a good thing.

Georgia Southern (7-3) ... go to Colorado State (1-9). Still, it's not easy beating even a down FBS team, as Grambling found out last week at ULM. GSU has an unsightly loss to 2-8 Chattanooga, but a great win at App State. Root for the Rams.

Alabama A&M (8-2) ... even at 9-2, AAMU's only remotely good win is against Southern, with losses to Grambling and Jackson State. The SWAC rarely gets love when it comes to the committee. They have no chance at 8-3 (they finish at Prairie View).
Lang bud i'm gonna have to disagree with you on your research. You are looking strictly at wins and losses. you forget that a lot of teams have the same problem as us. Less than 7 DI wins. Highlighted in red should be out of the question come selection sunday.
