It seems this could be a revealing season for where we are at and where we are going. Why did we not add some recruits to the core group that rd had in place? I know that we lost some very good talent that the previous staff had committed. Good quote by RM. I think it is much more competitve in mbb in the big south than we sometimes admit. Tj is a big key in my mind. A good pt g can make ave players look a lot better. Go Flames.

First of all, we only lost 1 player, Ehemen Orupke, in the coaching change. It remains to be seen how big a loss that actually was, but probably safe to say he would have helped this year. It should also be noted that he was Okun's recruit, and RD had little to do with it.

I think part of the problem with the RD years was that he achieved success early, primarily with transfers, and never really established a base of freshman recruits and retained them. It looks like 2 of the players RMc brought in this year will not be able to play. Stephene's academic problems perhaps could have been anticipated. Anderson's medical issues obviously could not. I would much rather "bite the bullet" for a year, and save our scholarships for high school kids whom our staff has had the opportunity to thoroughly evaluate both for their game and their character rather than chasing after short term solutions. It looks like we are starting that process with our 08 verbal commits.

I believe the wave of verbal commitments we have is evidence of the staff's decisions regarding scholie allocation. Anderson is a real loss since we could certainly use another outside shooter. But it will offer up more minutes for BJ and I'm anxious to see what he can do with another year of college coaching under his belt.

Brew leaving was a combination of a ton of things.

To say that Brew's departure was a result of the coaching change would essentially be saying that he was getting "help" from RD which RMc was unwilling to give. If that is the case, good riddance to both of them. I would prefer to take Dwight at his word that he decided to persue professional options for financial/family reasons, and would have left anyway.

But here's one thing to remember. Last year the offense was built around Larry Blair and he rarely gave the ball up. There may be more talent here than folks realize, which is what McKay's is counting on.

This sums it up. I think that there is more talent then alot of people think. Actually, having us place 6th is a good thing. We can only really go up in the standings and I definately think we will.

have to agree with Josh on this one. Brew was 2 inches taller than me and I am a legit 6-3 and some change.

No my Wisdom has made me bald....Because I was smart enough to shave my head on my own and stop paying 15-20 bucks a week for haircuts...Now that I have a new contract, maybe I will let it grow...We'll see. But yes Brew is easily 6-5.

Not sure when TJ will be ready. Not sure if I am ready. I talked with coach the other day and he said they are practicing with 10 bodies right now. He would love for everyone to be healthy but that is not happening right now. TJ's prognosis is good from what I understand but I don't know the details....Back to the alumni game. I think I will be ok in spurts. I have been doing a lot of jogging but basketball shape is totally different. Haven't touched a basketball since late July. Hope we have a good turnout for the game though.
