1, 2 or all 3 of them? Though that would certainly seem to be asking a LOT.

I was assuming that was Brooks, but maybe not. Either way- I got the impression from what I've read that Redd was the only possibility at this point.

Interesting, Hokies and Cavaliers on the same team? And still in VA!

booo....

I can see where they are coming from but I could also have seen circumstances where it would have worked out for everyone.

I may be in the minority on this one but, given the nature of their offenses, I am glad LU is "not going there." Image

I want as many players as we can get here, but I do agree that it would not be good for the look of the program with them here.

It's nice to see coaches and admin that are not willing to compromise the integrity of the program.

As I said... I support the adminstration's decision. Obviously they know a ton more about these particular guys and their situation than we do on this board.

I also see the redemptive value in us being open to taking kids who need a second chance. LU is a great environment for someone wanting to turn things around. Many kids come to LU because of the structure and how it would benefit their lives. I know that was a big reason for me. Coming out of High School I knew I'd get in so much trouble at a state school that I didn't even apply or visit state schools. So LU can be a great place for some students who've had those problems.

I'm not a huge fan of worrying about our 'reputation' when it comes to considering players. They should be given the same opportunity as any other transfer or incoming freshman. We ask them why they want to be here and ask them if they commit to living in support of the Liberty Way. If they don't... fine, they don't come.

We don't worry about our 'reputation' on the other end of the spectrum when people think we're fundamentalist wacko's so I don't see reason to cover our backside if we're giving guys an opportunity. For both of those cases we know who we are why we do what we do... As I said, if they come and break the rules, discipline them or expel them. But if they come and become part of our University... I don't see the harm.

Ulimately though, I trust the leadership in their decision making process. It's going to be a fantastic year with or without any new additions to this team. Rocco is doing a great job.

yeah, we have to be careful about jumping to conclusions on here b/c we only know about 1/10 of what happened and everything that was involved...if all of the evidence was presented to us then we may have said something different (not to mention maybe there was even surveys taken to see what the public's perception was! kidding, or am I? )

I'm all for giving folks second chances, but when it comes to student athletes, the perception and sometimes reality is that things are often overlooked. There was a segment tonight on ABC News in light of the Duke situation, where the main story was how student athletes sometimes think they are above the rules as long as they perform. Yeah, they give lip service to rules, but figure the school can't afford for them to be kicked out. I'm just talking here in general terms and not about any specific student athletes.

I can't deny that I'm a LITTLE disappointed- wish I could say that its SOLELY b/c everyone deserves a second chance: I DO feel that way, but part of it was the chance to bring in some big league help!

I am disappointed too, but like a lot people out there I don't know the whole situation behind the decision. I trust that there decisision was one with good intent and would involve less risk to the program. We will just have to move on and forget about the whole thing. By the way are there other potential transfere's out there right now considering LU? I notice that some other 1A teams are still getting transferes.

You'll see some transfers at the end of teams' spring drills. Players start to realize where they fit in the depth chart at their school, and if they don't like it, they often opt to leave.

Thanks for the info. I guess it is still too early to bring up names.

yeah, I was talking about him...I've heard the same thing yet I also hear people saying when it's all said and done he'll transfer....my gut feeling as of right now is he will once he sees how much the program has changed....not to mention like you said after he finds out where he'll land on the depth chart

How about the Kansas transfere? I also heard something about a transfere from Toledo a while back. Is this all speculation or rumors?

Kirby Freeman is talking about leaving Miami. I think he could make an impact.....keep dreaming.

If Kirby were to transfer it would likely be to a Southland school. I don't think his parents in Brownwood were particularly pleased how far went to Coral Gables.

As for transfers, I wouldn't be surprised at all to see 3-4 more I-As arrive for the first summer session.

More on the way? Possibly. A decent turnout to the Spring Game might sway some decisions.
