Stephen Colbert — who announced plans to run for the presidency, at least in South Carolina, on his Comedy Central show Tuesday night — is apparently serious enough that his staff reached out to the state’s Democratic and Republican committees in advance of his announcement.

Isn't that completely obvious? There's no way he'd win on either ticket. No one would ever take him serious.

he looks like he best candidate to me....everybody running rubs me the wrong way...I was looking into ron paul more and more...but the more i look into him the more I don't like his way of thinking on certain issues....and the rest of the candidates are either socialists or have no guts to have real convictions about issues...

If he ran for real, I think he might have half a shot, especially with younger voters. Then I guess he'd have to give up his show, or at least offer to co-host it with the other candidates. Or, if they wanted to keep him, I guess Comedy Central could offer shows to the other candidates.

If he really ran he would have a decent shot at winning, but he would have to be a third party candidate....with as many people that are frustrated with politicians, people may just put a vote in for him to mix things up

he should start his own party. i don't think he would have a chance if he were serious, but i think he would get a decent amount of votes just from people being so unhappy with things currently.

Well....name one candidate you feel confident running this country??? Not that Colbert is the real answer or anything...we all know that...but part of me wants to vote for him just because I am so fed up with our government....its a joke...so why not have a comedian running it??

He wouldn't win and I'm not sure he would even impact the election. Younger voters don't vote. Age 18-25 will watch the show and get excited and say they are voting for him, but in the end, they'll not vote. That's always the case. Advertising on MTV is a waste of time. Democrats have yet to figure that out.

While I agree, sadly such tests have been declared unconstitutional.
