Yes, C of C declined under Tim Herrion -- that's what you get for hiring Pete Gillen's righthand man -- but, prior to that, the College was
the job to get for an up and coming coach. At this stage, unless Marshall wants to remain at Winthrop forever, there is very little left for him to do there. Additionally, the Big South is no way shape or form a better basketball conference than the SoCon. In recent years, we've had one stud program (Winthrop), one decent program (High Point) and the rest mediocre to poor. TBy contrast, the entire top half of the SoCon, even with the loss of ETSU, are all fairly solid programs.
Marshall is apparently getting zero looks outside the conference and, if I were him and given the chance, I'd latch onto C of C till they told me to let go.
