Ok, I wasn't going to post this, then I saw the commercial again and was annoyed at the voice over. This thread is just for fun, be serious with it, or sarcastic with it.

If you could change the voice over of our commercials, what would you change it to?

(Note: I am extremely happy that we have commercials on tv. It's a great thing. This thread is just for fun. Please do not think we are criticizing this because we all know that it's a step in the right direction.)

Actually Mike Tilley would be great doing the voice overs I think. I would love the monster truck guy though that says Sunday, Sunday, Sunday. Or the Visa guy that says, and they don't take American Express. Or the movie voice over guy that says, In a world.... I just know that I suck doing those things. For the record I agree with SJ that the commercials are a step in the right direction but that the voice overs could have been better. Just an honest criticism. I am sure some folks will feel the same about my work :P

That is why when hoops season starts I always log on wincing. Feedback can be painful. So far I haven't been Flamed yet but just wait, it happens to everyone at some point I think.

I wasn't really talking about the way he did it as opposed to the cheesy lines. "Get ready as the Flames scoooorch their opponents." "The Flames are on fiiiirreeee." What would you change about the lines used?

I would've used Dennis Carter's voice.

One of the things I would've done was focus on the local talent. I doubt we could use actual player names, but if you showed video of them (Pinigis, Lloyd, Jennings, etc) you could get a lot of people. With those three, Bannon, Broggin, Crawford, Parziale, Richard, and Turner being local products, it wouldn't be hard to get people to come out to support them.

I could be wrong, but I believe the "voice" is Mark Edwards who works up at WRVL. He's Jerry Edwards son and the newsguy at the station. I've heard him doing some sports stuff before as well. He does a lot of commercial voice over work for TRBC.

He also does the Pregame show for WRVL for all football games.

That is not Mark Edwards in these commercials.....It doesn't even sound like Mark, Mark does a great job...but I have no idea who the voice is that they used..

There are so many options within the university and related ministries of talent which could do a great job on those voiceovers, but I would certainly think that if Mike Tilly is going to be here to do the TV broadcasts, he should be option #1 for the commercials. As has been stated before, he is extremely professional, and has a dynamic voice. Also, I think there is a plus to having a single person who is the "TV voice" of Flames football.

Yes I agree. No way that was Mark Edwards. Mark does great voiceover work. He does all the voice overs for the weekly Liberty updates that they play in chapel and on the Liberty U website.

I knew Mark back in the day and I admit I was shocked when it was suggested it was him. That voiceover was so not Mark's personality.

And as someone who does this type of work, I can tell you that sometimes the producers push talent to go over the top in delivery so you never know if the talent was pushed out fo the comfort zone. Then again, the producers may have been grumbling about the final product as much as everybody else seems to be in the thread.

It's a kid they handed a script in the McD's Drivethu window! They used the speaker outside to record it.
