If they put an asterisk by this Bud Selig should be fired on the spot and banned from every stadium in America.

We had the dead ball era, we had the live ball era of the late 20's and early 30's, we have the "modern era," so now we have the "live player era." The best is the best...regardless of what era...and until it is dis-proven that a large percentage of players and pitchers WERE NOT juicing, then I will support Bonds' accomplishments. There is simply no way to know, either way. Yes...he is an egotistical @$$...but that, in no way, should diminish his accomplishments...which have come in an era that might just be tainted in its entirety. I, for one, will be staying up way past my east coast bedtime to watch his every AB...and will stand and cheer when he hits #756.

I tried to stay out of this thread. I knew the other baseball guy on here would think like this. Glad to know I was right.

He didn't cheat.

haha....I wouldn't be tempted at all to throw it back....man that would be worth so much money....

the thing is there have been people calling into sports radio saying they would seriously throw it back...if you threw that ball back you would be seriously stupid....

Bonds may have "cheated" but there is a reason why baseball is more criticized when it comes to steroids...they have the worst commissioner in professional sports. So if you really hate Bonds for all he has been accused of, the fine...but Bud Selig did nothing to stop the trend until it went to far.....and that is the truth and that is why I really don't have much of a problem with this whole thing....I am glad its over though...because like most things in sports, ESPN has killed this story

I wouldn't try to get rich off the ball. I'd ask for a jersey, autograph, and two season tickets in the good seats for an agreed upon amount of time. That's Barry's ball. He deserves it. I'd just want to watch my favorite team (if that was the case living in SF) play for free. I could sell the tickets to the games I couldn't go to and still make a good amount of money.

hmm, a bunch of memorabilia or $500k? (which is probably on the high side of the estimates I've seen).

Dude, give me the ball and I'll buy you season tickets, jerseys, whatever. Can you say EBAY?

Oh...the moral route SJ??..I'm not going to lie I would try to get some money out of the things...maybe not get rich, but I would try to get some money...I am poor after all...and I don't think there is anything wrong with that....I am not talking about getting millions for the ball, but I would try to get some signed items from Barry and some others from the team that could be worth something, season tickets for life of course, and a few thousand dollars....like enough to pay off my student loans...and a little more just to have...

To me, I wouldn't want to get rich off of someone else's accomplishment. He deserves that baseball.

Edit because I didn't see Posty's post:

If I was asking for money, I'd do it just to pay off debt, nothing to get rich. Having no debt and season tickets is a pretty good life to me.

and he can have it for less than 5% of what he is making this season.......i will disagree though for obvious reasons, Clemens is the best player of the era IMHO.

I am more than willing to get semi-rich off of someone elses accomplishments by dumb luck. That's life.

Barry Bonds, along with his dad, have had people trying to get rich off of them their entire lives. Sometimes it's good to just do the right thing and not try to exploit people.

Supe...scary how much we think alike. I'd give him the ball...expecting nothing in return. BTW...Supe should post the Bonds rookie card I sent him earlier today.

He wouldn't buy the ball from you. He said that once a hitter hits a home run, the ball doesn't belong to him anymore. He said the guy should keep it and do what he wants with it.
