The Liberty Flames Division I Hockey Team finished the 2012 portion of their schedule with a pair of dominating wins over Stony Brook (building off the football team success when the Seawolves came to town last month).

Friday night saw the Seawolves take a 1-0 lead midway through the first on a power play. Liberty answered in the second thanks to a goal from freshman Steven Bellew. Kyle Garcia finally got back in on the scoring action. Late in the same period, Rick Turner picked up his 28th of the season, and Ryan Kerr sent the home team into the locker room with a 4-1 lead.

Ryley Egan and Captain Andrew McCombe added goals in the third to complete a dominating 6-1 victory, the fourth in five games.

Liberty kept the momentum up on Saturday, as Rick Turner scored a pair and freshman Paul Ingles added one as well, leading Liberty to a 3-1 victory and the fifth weekend sweep at the Ice Center this season.

Liberty heads into the Christmas break ranked #10 in the country and winners of five of six. Liberty returns to the ice January 10 in Tempe, AZ as they face the #1 team in the country for the third time, this time the Arizona State Sun Devils, followed by a pair in Tuscon against the University of Arizona.

The Flames return to the friendly confines of the LaHaye Ice Center January 20 when they take on Virginia Tech.
