She crouches behind the net and waits patiently, disguising her 5-foot-11 frame. Here comes the set and suddenly Leah Clayton is doing her thing. She outjumps her competition and delivers a crippling kill into the back row, the kind that has little chance of being returned. It’s a powerful blow, made with all the authority of a smart, seasoned volleyball player.

Clayton is hardly a veteran, though. She’s a sophomore, a 15-year-old who is the heart and soul of her Westover Christian Academy squad.
