Just a quick preview from our side (if anyone cares):

Bulldogs are led this year by transfer SS Kevin Wiedenbacher. He is currently in the midst of a 25 game hitting streak and is leading Asheville in several offensive categories. Offensively Elliot Arrington is having a solid year -- and both Kevin Mattison and Reid Kreiser have show the ability to hit some HRs (6 and 8 respectively) but have been unable to hit for average or be very consistent.

Pitching wise ace Alan Deratt has been quite literally unhittable. DeRatt is 5-0 with a 0.83 ERA in 6 Starts. 43IP and opponents are hitting .182 off him. Saturday Starter Michael Bogaert has been almost as effective. He is 4-3 with a 1.98 ERA, 41 IP and 42 K but only 17 BB. While these numbers are somewhat inflated due to a weak earl season non-conference schedule both righties have excellent stuff and are learning to mix pitches. Asheville's biggest problem has been holding leads -- and finding a sunday starter. Despite these two and the great numbers the staff's ERA is nearly 6 (5.99).

Defensively Asheville is starting 3-4 freshman and the errors are quickly adding up. Key to the series for Asheville is simply taking care of the baseball Defensively and executing offensively. The team has been unable to move runners over or get them in all season. Expect to see Friday and Saturday starters go 7 strong innings as they have most of the year -- but without a big lead when they leave either game will be tough to win.

I'm thinking that either DeRatt or Boegart will be lights out and go 8 innings-- but not both. One will be good, the other unhittable -- and Asheville sneaks a low scoring win either Friday or Saturday. Liberty wins series 2-1. Good luck guys...I'm at work and won't be home until after the game tonight.
