These guys dominated a weekend series at Maryland-Eastern Shore but it is tough to just much from those performances.

Not one mention of today's game by Lang in the sports section of our local fishwrap, but if you read the fine print on page 2 of the first section, the game is referenced directly under Barry Bonds' pic:
WHAT TO WACH FOR TODAY

Liberty University plays its BASEBALL HOME OPENER today at Worthington Stadium on campus. The Flames are off to a 4-0 start.
How does this make the news section but not the sports page? :dontgetit

Cider...it is VERY hard to compete with the HS tournaments going on at this time of year. I am quite certain it has nothing to do with Chris....besides...the paper has to keep room for all the AP and Media General "reports" that fill the sports section.

So does that mean today's opener is sponsored by WACHovia?

2 on 2 out for the Flames with Keller at the dish. I hope that wind is blowing out!
Wild pick throw and the runners are on 2nd and 3rd.
Keller strikes out and again we leave 2 on base!

ARGHHHH!

VERY WINDY...
...and a GREAT turnout for a late Feb game.

Team looks good playing small ball. The bats will come around. It's early.

The runner scored on a single from second. He was only on second because he stole second on a wild throw from Hollinger.

This was the most people I've ever seen at a Liberty baseball game in February.

I gotta say that Dustin Umberger is absolutely sick! Striking out 5 of the last 6 (as Knuckle mentioned), and on the swinging strikes those guys could not catch up to the fastball at all. I was at dinner after the game and I heard somebody say that Nicely only had the changeup working and didnt have a fastball.

Here's to hoping this win makes the Lynchburg fishwrap tomorrow. Good times hanging out with Fumble, Libertine, Super, HMO, & BJ at the game. In fact, BJ was doing play-by-play for several minutes standing on a single crutch in the stands (I wasn't sure if I should have tipped him for that or not).

I sit here in 20 deg weather with sleet and snow pummeling us, thinking about how bizarre it is that you guys are sitting outside, watching baseball

That was Scott Wiebe, he was with us last year.. I will be doing Sunday's game... We left for Asheville at 3pm today so that's why I wasn't there...Who says it's unpaid?
