Well as of right now, nor Sid Bream, Lee Gutterman or Randy Tomlin have been contacted by Liberty University. Wouldnt it make since out of pure courtesy to interview them being how they are some of the best names and most knowledgeable (in baseball) to come out of your program?
Maybe I'm missing the boat and I just dont understand, but it's hard to believe that it cant help in the recruiting process to look a kid in the eye and say "I know what its like to have to go to convo, live on campus, etc...I did it and I loved it"
I kind of understand if you didnt want to hire them on as head coach's but you at least have to give them a strong consideration for assistant or pitching coach. Not to mention if one of the 3 that were mentioned get another open job in the BSC I think that would reflect very very poorly on LU.

Unless I am badly mistaken, Lee was interviewed for the job, there were others with some LU connections considered as well. From info I have gathered all were contacted and/or asked for input. I am sure that Lee and Sid would never consider another position within the BSC and that their interest in being a D1 coach would be limited to LU. I agree that these are great guys, but we don't really know their level of interest in the job. Finally, I have not seen a statement regarding a staff, we may yet see one of them as an assistant.

wecome back TRUTH-
since the announcement of STORM, I have been wondering the same thing.
I really, truly expected to see one of those 3 named- Toman sorta came in under the radar for me, personally- then again, I'm no NCAA baseball guru.
After that selection (which seems to be a GREAT one, BTW) I really wondered what would happen- are they off the map? Will they be used as resources? I agree that they would be good for the face of the program, but maybe the new guy really wants to make his own selections and would rather start fresh?
I see both sides, and am sure there is room for them in the program SOMEWHERE, if not directly involved on the field.

Shaw-
They have to be contacted first, and yes another BSC has contacted one of them.

For a HC job? Based on the other information provided not being exacly correct, I would still question contact from another BSC school, unless you have a link or other offical information.

Question what you'd like, also speak to Randy to see if they have spoke to him while being in Lynchburg playing the hill cats. I'm not sure what you consider a interview though, maybe a phone conversation does it for you, but not really for most.

Contrasting this hire with McKay's, didn't Coach McKay have his entire staff chosen within about a week's time? Of course, the difference is, McKay had been a head coach the previous year so he already had 2 assistant coaches lined up the day of the press conference, and Storm is kind of working from scratch, this being his first HC position.

why do I have a BAAAAD feeling this involves RadfUrd.
oh- would THAT sting to see him in the opposing dugout 6 times/yr or however many times we play them.
not that I would begrudge the guy the opportunity- he'd probably turn that miserable program around.

Im not gonna offer up any commentary on this until after I see some hard news. Truth, you may be right, but you may very well be wrong. If somebody else has contacted one of those three about coaching for them, particularly if they made an offer, Id want to see some sort of news about it from somewhere. Otherwise its merely rumor and conjecture.

NOBODY will turn that program around given their approx 50% scholly commitment...the lack of other funding...the lack of facilities...and, most importantly...
...the sorry state the athletic administration is in...being overseen by some Fine Arts professor.

You have a sports writer on this board that I'm sure has a connection with other area newspapers, see if he can speak to another beat writer, b/c the state of Radford's program I'm sure who's interviewing for the baseball job isnt going to make print

Doesn't Sid's son still go to LU? would that affect any coaching offers to him? I know his son isn't on the team but would it affect offers to other BSC schools or to LU?

if sid wants to coach at radford, by all means he should. im sure he could get that program in the right direction despite the financial woes.

While I would wish Sid all the best, it sures seems the Radford situation is set up for failure based on what we heard from the prior coach. I'd hate to see him get into a bad situation. If he can't be on the mountain, I'd rather see him get into a position where he could flourish. But that's just my take from halfway across the continent.
