GamecockAnthem caught up with departing USC assistant baseball coach Jim Toman, who has been named the new head coach at Liberty University. Toman has been an integral part of USC’s baseball success for 11 years. With Florida choosing as a new head coach another high-profile assistant like Toman, USC fans wanted to know why Toman would choose mid-major program Liberty. Read inside to find out why.
Liberty University is a member of the Big South Conference, a respectable but unquestionably lower level conference in baseball than the SEC, which is consistently one of the strongest baseball conferences in the country. The SEC is also home to the defending national champions in football and basketball as well. So why would Jim Toman choose a school in the Big South, and Liberty in particular? Let's ask the coach:

So now we have four relatively young coaches who have had success at big-time schools who also uphold the values of our school completely. They want the house with a swimming pool.
This is good. This is very good.

I meant three, but as I was typing my professor put "The Four Points to..." on the Power Point so I wrote four instead of three.
Yea, I'm on FlameFans in class.

And I guess we could say four if we counted Barber, but he's not a coach.

Just noticed that this article was already posted by 'krmgolfer' in the other thread.

It's nothing new, and some may say it doesn't count, but I would put Carey Green in that category.

I was just talking the Big Three sports. Forgive me, but I'm not a huge follower of women's sports.

Right. As an ex-minion, I can relate. You know that they're plotting your overthrow right now, don't you? They'll take you down as soon as your giant shaven head is turned.

Why Not Liberty?
For the freshmen here, that quote was originally used by Katie Feenstra when asked on ESPN why SHE chose Liberty. She responded on national TV, "Why not Liberty"?

You're full of it. That quote was originally used by me, and I passed it off to Katie.
