Flames’ Left-hander Page Named To National Honor Roll
March 15, 2006 · Lynchburg, Va.

Liberty sophomore pitcher Ryan Page has been named to the the College Baseball Foundation National Honor Roll for the week of March 14, the organization announced.

Page, a left-hander from Cranberry Twp., Pa., held George Washington to four hits, in picking up his first collegiate shutout, to lead the Liberty Flames to a, 3-0, win over the Colonials Saturday afternoon to earn selection. The sophomore ran his season mark to 5-0, scattering four singles, while striking out four and walking one. No Colonial made it past second base on the afternoon. Thanks to three double plays, the left-hander faced only one more batter (28) than the minimum. In addition, he also has won his last five appearances, two starts and three in relief, allowing only one run in 27 1/3 innings.

The pitcher was one of 47 players to be selected to the list. The College Baseball Foundation releases the National Honor Roll on a weekly basis saluting the finest performances in college baseball in the past week.

On the season, Page leads the Flames’ mound staff with a 1.10 ERA in 32 2/3 innings. He has struck out 20 and walked five, while opponents have a .189 batting average. Last week, Page was named the New Balance Big South Pitcher of the Week ending March 8.

Page and the Flames are off to their best start in school history since the 1979 Liberty team with a 16-3 record. The 1979 squad started their season 16-3 also.

Liberty hosts Rutgers in a three-game weekend series beginning Friday afternoon at Worthington Stadium. Game time is scheduled for 1 p.m.
