I remember us practicing outside with no shirts on ( 1978 ) and we were running to the dugout because we had some rock music on and JF was getting out of his suburban...we thought he would be offended we were playing that kind of music...we stopped the music...and he thought we were running to get our shirts on because of the rules. Simply put...he loved us and didn't care what we were wearing. He just wanted us to know he loved us and then he roughed us up. We All loved him then !! He will be missed by the baseball alums for sure ! Gods speed Dr. Falwell !!!!!

Everyone will miss that big ring of His rapping on the windows of the homeplate club at the players or the coaches after a great play, or being sucker punched in the gut, Dr. Falwell loved ALL of LU sports. What a tragedy for the entire Liberty Campus.

I talked with Sid, Lee, and many others today. We are all missing a mountain of a man. If you have a story, tell it, share it, let everyone in on the legacy he left in the baseball program !

As I mentioned in the tribute thread I got to sit with Dr Falwell at the game Saturday against Winthrop. I thought he was going to break the glass when we took the lead.

I remember taking a visit here as a senior in high school, and Jerry came driving over near the concession stand area. He stopped and said hello out of his window and asked what I was doing there that weekend. I told him that I was taking a visit to Liberty and would love to play ball here. He stopped and prayed with me right there in the middle of the road that the Lord would lead me here, and then punched me in the gut and told me to keep working hard, lol. He was just so unbelievable, words can't even describe the feelings really. It won't be the same......

love how half the stories end with people being punched in the gut or driven up onto a sidewalk :)

hard to smile about it, but does feel good to remember that side of him!

I think anybody who has a story to tell with Dr. Falwell involves being punched in the stomach at some point in the story.

Doc loved his sports and his school. If anything, the legacy of Dr. Falwell will forever carry on through the sports world with the number of athletes that he has given his tremendous support for.

It seems Randy Tomlin is taking it kind of hard. There was a mutual love there that was BIG, and Dr. Falwell would do anything for that family and even proved that as of late.
