the big south leading eagles come to town in the final home series for LU this season. the flames (28-22 overall 9-6 big south) have lost a season high five straight games after being swept at arizona last weekend. winthrop (30-19 overall 14-1 big south) is coming off of sweeping high point last weekend. games times are 4pm today and 2 pm saturday and sunday. sunday's game will be broadcast on 90.9 FM or at the www.thelightonline.com the seedings are still very much in doubt for the upcoming tournament with high point playing lowly charleston southern and VMI playing radford, we could get bypaseed in the standings without a solid effort this weekend. get out and support the guys!

These next two series are obviously crucial...and playing VMI next weekend may well determine if we are in the play-in games. Good luck to the guys...
...maybe having these past few days without mid-week games will help refresh the guys.

This is a pretty big series for Winthrop, they need a sweep, or at least 2 of 3 to stay in the hunt for an at large (they'll need to beat CCU in that series and finish first in the Big South).

Our guys have got to throw strikes. The biggest key to beating this Winthrop team will have to be our defense, we are going to need to be clean, because Hudak will take advantage of every error we make. We are not going to blow this team out, but if our guys come out swinging the bats, and the pitchers throw strikes and keep the walks down, and we have no errorrs, we can win. Winthrop is not unbeatable. I want nothing more then the best for our guys, especially our seniors, this is their last home series. GO Flames

That was the most idiotic off topic piece of crap you have ever said. It is completely off topic of what this thread is about. Sitem hasn't even posted in this thread. Someone needs to delete that.

Just because you're friends with Matt Royer doesn't mean you have the right to rip everyone who says things different.

Still time for a late rally.

Giammaresi's 3-run HR in the 8th tied it at 4-all.

But WU scores a run without managing a hit, walk or error. The squeeze play of their leadoff runner who was hit by a pitch and moved over on a wild pitch and bunt gives the Eagles a 5-4 lead.

There's still time for one more rally in the bottom of the 9th.

Gaillard's 1-out single has the tying run on base.

Hollinger walks and there runners on 1st & 2nd with 1 away. A base hit would be terrific right about now from a guy who hit a 3-run jack his last time up.

After another walk, the bases are now juiced as Brown pinch hits for Teufel with one away.
