Game 18: Home vs VA Tech

The Hokies come to town for a 3:00 game on Tuesday, fresh off of taking two of three from 21st-ranked GA Tech over the weekend. For any of you with local ties (especially Rustburg, HMO), Tech features soph DH/3B Luke Padgett. This should be a pretty good test for the Flames as the new coach seems to have Tech playing some pretty good ball.

I will be following the game on Gametracker while at work. Hopefully we can shake off the disappointing loss on Sunday and win. It will be tough vs Virginia Tech

Do any old timers remember Al "Bumblebee" Bumbry who was ROY for the Orioles in '73? His son Steve is starting in LF as a freshman for Tech, and has gone 2-3 with a HR today. Bumbry, Sr. was one of my childhood heroes, and he was at the game: I recognized him, introduced myself (by telling him I knew he hit .337 in '73), shook his hand, and got his autograph.

former flame (red-shirt), Rhett Ballard threw one inning against the flames. They have dropped Rhett down side-arm after a pretty good year last year as well, but has a 1.93 ERA this year with 12 appearances with 25 K's in 23.1 innings. Earlier this year, Rhett was leading the ACC in K per 9 innings. I don't know now if he still has that title, but is definitely still top 5 or so.

Just couldn't hit today. We did have two HRs and a Tech player hit a Home run but was out at the same time - I have never seen that before. Our SS got hurt - had ice on shoulder- hopefully he is OK

Yeah...Patrick went to dive for a ball and he landed pretty hard with his glove arm extended. I just hope he didn't dislocate it or worse
