It's a start...
...seems like the team has hovered around 100 the past couple of years. At least in baseball, conference play doesn't kill the RPI.

Warrennolan.com has us at 98 as of March 11. Coastal is the highest in the Big South at 30. By the way, in case you are wondering, Winthrop is listed at 144.

The boys need a kick in the butt. I'm sure MR is letting them know they are not making the necessary adjustments at the plate. Making adjustments at the plate can only happen if they are willing to acknowledge the flaws in their swings. From what I have heard they lead the league in pop ups which is never a good thing. Every team goes through mini-slumps. The best teams make the adjustments necessary to break out of bad habbits with extra work. Last years team was more consiistent at the plate and on defense. Reality is we may not be as good this year...even though on paper ( RPI ) it says so. That is why RPI can also be very misleading as well. Plenty of time to turn it around fellas.

hopefully we can string some good wins together soon. Once George Mason at home hits, the rest of the schedule will be extremly tough! Including Va Tech twice, coastal, winthrop, and VMI. I retract my statement from a few weeks ago about VMI being not that good. I have seen them play, and they are extremely well coached and an extremely good pitching ball club. The series coming up will be an absolute handful every weekend.

agreed on VMI.

I mentioned on Presby's board (they asked, BTW) that this years team over there is very good.

be interesting to see if they sustain it though.

I am pretty confident they will sustain it. Pitching has been fantastic for 'em. Barham has looked good, and Bowman has been sittin 91-94 pretty much. Along with the new stadium and the atmosphere there this year (which was extremely nice), Ikenberry seems to be doing a very good job along with the two assistants who are both in their 2nd year there.

At least with CSU and Radford....we have no worry about not making the tournament. That should take the pressure off to have to ride the pitchers too long.

The format of the tourney has changed this year. All 8 teams make it...but there is a play-in round. #5 vs. #8 and #6 vs. #7 on the first day, and the losers go home. Out of those two winners, the worst seeded team plays #1 in the next round and the other winner plays #2...At that point, it is just like the normal 6-team double-elimination tourney of years past.

Interesting twist...so you NEED to be in the top 4 in order to conserve your pitching.
