Wow, this is certainly shocking.
This is more surprising to me than Turner Gill stepping away.

Really? I guess you're right. On the Flames Central podcast a month or so ago, McCaw made a hint about striving for the next level for LU sports. In my mind I figured that mean that they be some changes with coaching in some of the programs. Thus far, the volleyball, women's tennis and now the baseball coach has stepped down. Should be interesting this upcoming weeks.

He was still posting updates on Kepler from the Cape as of a couple of days ago. The timing of this is curious. Hopefully we'll get further details shortly. But I suspect that I am not the only one who didn't consider this an area of concern in LU athletics ... until now.

I thought he was safe. Even with the last 2 years being pretty rough I thought he had done enough to get a chance to turn this around.

Three I think…maybe 4. That’s off the top of my head so I’m not 100% sure.

I’m a little worried about getting the guy we want with this timing. For the most the coaching moves have been made. I’m sure Ian has a list ready to go and will get a quality guy but the timing is certainly worrisome.

Perhaps Carey Green should be getting a little nervous? I didn't expect this, not yet anyway.

Ive said this time and time again. Jackson was close to leaving. After multiple coaching errors that coat the team games in the past. He had multiple assistant coaches leaving him. There is a reason for that. Ive also stated that Coach Green will be next. He better hope this upcoming recruits will elevate his program or else.

With the timing and with all of our best players transferring, I just can’t see us getting a high caliber coach. Next year is going to be rough.

I completely agree. I do trust Ian to do the best job possible but he’s certainly in a tight spot with the timing. Hopefully the overall state of the facilities, the new pitching lab, commitment to winning, and money can get the right guy in here to win.
Even with a perfect hire it’s difficult to see us being a quality team next year.

I have heard that Randy Tomlin is suggesting Scott Stricklin as a possible candidate. He took Kent State to the CWS a little over a decade ago. He appears to be on the market after a decade at Georgia:

ATHENS, Ga. -- Georgia fired baseball coach Scott Stricklin on Friday, ending a decade-long tenure that failed to produce postseason success.

Stricklin was dismissed three days after the Bulldogs were blown out 9-0 by South Carolina in the opening round of the Southeastern Conference tournament.

Stricklin had three years left on his contract, but athletic director Josh Brooks decided a change was needed.

Hopefully the rapidity of this search is in keeping with the rapidity of the search that brought in Chadwell. The timing here is pretty brutal, and getting a new face in front of commits as quickly as possible is critical since it will be hard to replace the names in the portal.

Not sure if we could land him, but I have to think Dan Heefner of Dallas Baptist is high on the list.

Outfielder Kane Kepley, and pitcher Cale Bolton both committed to the Tar Heels. Both followed former manager Scott Jackson to the Tar Heels, as he joined the staff as an assistant coach.

This is a huge deal for college baseball and can probably work in our favor to an extent.
