For those who know NCAA baseball, the entire sport is basically set up to prevent teams that have 2 dominant pitchers from dominating their conference. That's why most, if not all conference games are 3 games series with the opponent, with mid week games mixed in. (also to cut down on travel). Same goes for tournament games.

Some same NCAA principles apply in softball, in that, umpires are told to "squeeze strike zone" in order to get more offense into the game. Example, pitches below the belt are called "high". Watch a game closely and see how many times this happens.
